The Senior Manager of Operations leads a high-performing manufacturing organization responsible for delivering safe, compliant, high-quality medical devices on time and at optimized cost, while advancing Humacao's vision to be the standard of excellence in machining through innovation, technology, and a skilled, motivated workforce. This leader owns operational performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and Innovation. The role requires strong financial acumen, structured problem-solving capability, Lean maturity, digital fluency, and the ability to build an accountable, engaged culture aligned to Medtronic's Mission.
The Senior Manager is accountable for accelerating the Medtronic Performance System (MPS), improving the Manufacturing Cluster Model, strengthening problem-solving culture, developing succession depth, and supporting strategic initiatives of new products ramp-up, Flow Acceleration, one piece flow connecting workflows, automation deployment, and Industry 5.0 roadmap execution. This role requires disciplined execution, cross-functional collaboration, and visible leadership presence on the floor.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives.
Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software, Effective Communication Skills.
Functional Skills: Machining and Manufacturing Technologies, Proficient computer skills, Data Science and Analysis, Lean Manufacturing and continued improvement, Managing Quality.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires broad management knowledge to lead project teams in one department.
Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with 5+ years of managerial experience.
Operational Performance Ownership & Cross-Functional Leadership
Own end-to-end operational performance aligned to SIOP and customer demand, delivering results across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Compliance .
Drive continuous improvement in productivity, waste, lead time, and inventory , while ensuring audit-ready, risk-aware operations .
Partner effectively with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, EHS, HR, and Finance to support flawless execution and strong new product launches, communicating clearly at all levels.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Build and sustain a data-driven continuous improvement culture with strong employee engagement.
Apply structured problem-solving methods (A3, 5-Why, DMAIC) to eliminate root causes and deliver lasting results.
Strengthen manufacturing clusters and Flow Acceleration to achieve measurable performance improvements within the first year.
Financial & Cost Leadership
Own budgets, labor models, and capital planning , connecting shop-floor actions to financial outcomes.
Ensure strong forecasting, cost control, and financial discipline .
Identify and execute cost optimization opportunities aligned with operational improvement priorities.
Talent, Engagement & Succession
Develop and coach talent through individual development plans and strong on-the-job leadership.
Build a robust succession pipeline for critical roles.
Foster an ethical, inclusive, and highly engaged culture , addressing performance issues early with fairness and empathy.
Innovation & Digital Transformation- Demonstrated exposure to automation, AI applications and proficiency, data analytics, or digital manufacturing tools.
Drive automation, digital tools, and AI-enabled manufacturing to improve productivity and enable real-time, data-driven decisions.
Advance the Industry 5.0 roadmap by integrating modern manufacturing technologies and building team capability in automation, analytics, and digital systems.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Management, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 8-10 years manufacturing experience. Experience in medical device or other highly regulated industry strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years direct people leadership in regulated manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing budgets >$20M and teams >100 employees preferred.
Demonstrated success leading:
Lean transformation initiatives
Waste reduction programs
Automation deployment
Capacity expansion or ramp-up
Organizational restructuring or cluster or business units-based models
Leadership Competencies
Leads with accountability and integrity , making structured decisions under pressure, owning results (operational and financial), and addressing performance issues directly and professionally.

Required Technical & Functional Skillsets
Lean Manufacturing & Six Sigma methodology (DMAIC, A3, VSM)
OEE optimization and productivity modeling
Capacity planning & SIOP alignment
Financial forecasting & cost accounting fundamentals
Risk management & quality systems
Data analytics (Power BI, Minitab, Tableau, or equivalent)
Project management discipline (stage gate, milestone tracking)
Knowledge of machining and advanced manufacturing technologies preferred
Experience with cobots, automation systems, or digital manufacturing tools
Required Certifications (Preferred / Required)
Required:
