About the role The position requires full use and application of purchasing, production planning, & demand planning principles as applied to new product development, sustaining of ongoing production, and management of product throughout its life cycle. This position works throughout all elements of the supply chain in ensuring that established operational metrics and goals are met. This position works under minimal supervision. Responsibilities Maintains inventory accuracy and meets inventory turn goals and line fill Works with Product Management, Production, Sales Management, and staff to address line fill through forecasts updates, targets inventory updates, inventory and order moves, and acceleration of materials and / or production as required Establishes strong relationships with suppliers and establishes processes to monitor supplier performance Works with production in establishing and adjusting production scheduling Manages purchasing, planning, and demand planning staff Leads / monitors staff in cost reduction activities through supplier negotiations and consolidation Reviews, approves, and maintains departmental Material Requirements Planning (MRP) procedures and training programs and documentation Interprets company policies and procedures and ensures that they are followed by staff Reviews and approves Purchase Orders and Expenditures per defined procedures Responsibilities as a manager include interviewing and hiring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems Qualifications Technical Ability to negotiate with suppliers related to product costing and inventory management while developing and maintaining positive supplier relationships Ability to monitor and adjust inventory assurance programs with suppliers to maintain and protect the supply chain Proven ability to plan production Behavioral Problem-Solver - Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and develop effective solutions Attention to Detail - Ensure accuracy in work product, documentation, and processes to maintain high standards Analytical Skills - Analyze data to make informed decisions Organizational Skills - Keep work area clean and organized to handle multiple tasks and deadlines Direction - Ability to train and direct employees to encourage them to complete assigned tasks within given deadlines Leadership - Ability to guide, inspire, and influence others to achieve common goals.
