50/50 scheduled rotation between both sites - reliable transportation required

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM (varies slightly by location)

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Pay Range: $16.00 - $21.00/hour (based on experience)

Overview

We are seeking a professional, reliable, and patient-focused Medical Scheduler to join a high-volume specialty medical practice. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within the healthcare field, receive comprehensive training, and transition into a permanent role with full benefits.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, great with communication, and able to provide exceptional service to both patients and clinical staff. Prior experience in a medical office is preferred, but strong customer service backgrounds are also welcome.

Key Responsibilities

The Medical Scheduler will play an essential role in ensuring smooth patient flow and clinic operations. Daily duties include:

Patient Interaction & Communication

Answering and directing high-volume incoming calls

Communicating messages clearly to clinical staff

Supporting patients with appointment questions and preparation

Scheduling & Front Office Support

Scheduling new, returning, and referred patient visits

Maintaining provider calendars, schedule templates, and appointment adjustments

Coordinating appointment changes based on provider availability

Scheduling follow-ups, tests, and procedures as needed

Insurance & Documentation

Entering insurance authorizations into the EMR

Verifying insurance as needed

Collecting co-pays and managing front-office payment workflow

Ensuring accurate patient data and documentation

Compliance & Professionalism

Protecting all patient information according to HIPAA standards

Following front-office procedures and supporting administrative workflow

Maintaining a professional, patient-first demeanor at all times

Preferred Experience & Skills

1-3 years of experience in a medical office or scheduling role

Experience with EMR systems (Epic or similar is a plus)

Strong customer service or call-center background welcomed

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment

Must demonstrate consistent reliability, punctuality, and professionalism

Work Environment

This role is fully on-site and will rotate equally between two medical office locations (Largo and Brandywine).

Candidates must be able to travel between both sites-schedules are communicated in advance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $21.00/hr.
