Responsibilities
Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required to solve problems and make recommendations under minimal supervision. Provides guidance, training and directions to less seasoned employees. Applies non-standard electrical, mechanical, developmental, electromechanical, optical and test technician duties in such areas as manufacturing, maintenance, quality, testing, engineering, where considerable judgment is required. Constructs, inspects, calibrates, adjusts, tests, documents and maintains equipment, components, devices and systems.
Provides guidance, training and direction to an assigned group of employees/team.
Provides input to Supervisor/Manager/Engineer regarding Employee Relations issues.
Troubleshoots electrical, test, mechanical, facilities or hydraulic systems, components, and equipment.
Ensures tools and test equipment are properly calibrated and repaired according to standard operating procedures.
Often works with high level of self-motivation from little or no documentation, instruction or guidance. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
Make recommendations to Supervisor/Manager/Engineer on improving quality, efficiency, cost of company product(s), processes and/or productivity techniques.
Requires analytical and interpretative capability, which applies an in-depth knowledge and thorough practical understanding of component/test level issues with comprehensive knowledge in applicable discipline including PLC programing, system and logic troubleshooting process.
May apply non-standard test techniques where normal procedures do not fulfill testing needs.
Ensures all documentation is recorded properly and follows corporate standard operating procedures, when applicable.
Writes and/or reviews complex technical reports, develops charts, graphs, schematics, and drawings to describe and illustrate machines, test, component characteristics.
Has completed all appropriate safety and environmental hazard training.
Responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance.
Ability to conduct PMs in a timely manner
ADDITIONS FOR HAZARDOUS WASTE/CHEMICALS ROLE
Responsible for on time distribution of all chemicals.
Ensures all chemicals and hazardous waste in the loading dock area are segregated and labeled in accordance with Site Procedure and regulatory requirements.
Ensures timely pick up and inventory of all Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste and Biomedical Waste.
Performs weekly inspections of hazardous waste areas as required by environmental regulations.
Responsible for on time requests of Clean Harbors for Hazardous Waste pick up.
Prepares Hazardous Waste for shipment and completes checklist for DOT and RCRA compliance of shipments.
Responsible for Manifests of all hazardous wastes-ensures timely receipt of originals from Clean Harbors.
Tracks, maintains, inspects and provides Safety/Environmental department inventory of Spill Kits in area.
Ensures proper recycling of empty Hazardous Drums.
Member of CERT (Chemical Emergency Response Team)
Attends regulatory required training as indicated by the EHS Department and Training Curriculum.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, equivalent skilled trades, apprenticeships or equivalent education. Requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
AA or equivalent; or trade/technical schooling
10 - 14 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (It is anticipated that incumbents achieve this level through extensive experience rather than formal education.)
Experience in the medical device industry would be an additional asset
Ability to use sophisticated test and measurement equipment associated with specific discipline
Reads and understands technical documentation associated with specific discipline
Ability to use PC and associated software packages
Thorough knowledge of the company and its related products
Ability to read, write, communicate and understand English
Must be able to successfully complete company/department training courses in manufacturing techniques
Thorough understanding and application of federal regulatory requirements (21 CFR Part 11 Electronic Records; Electronic Signatures, 211cGMP for Finished Pharmaceuticals and 820 Medical Devices; Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
