We're seeking results-driven Application Security Sales Executive to accelerate adoption and growth of GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS) across our most strategic customers. This role blends strategic sales execution, deep application security expertise, and trusted technical engagement. You'll operate as a customer-facing subject matter expert-equally comfortable in executive conversations and deep technical discussions with security, platform, and developer teams.
This is a highly visible role for someone who is technically curious, customer-obsessed, and motivated to drive real security and business outcomes.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Lead Technical & Strategic Engagements
Lead technical sales motions including discovery, demo, and proof-of-concepts (POCs).
Deliver compelling customer presentations, clearly articulating value and addressing technical and business challenges in live settings.
Act as a subject matter expert on GitHub Advanced Security, including code scanning, secret scanning, software composition analysis, and AI-powered remediation.
Serve as a trusted advisor, providing unique insights that help customers think differently about securing modern software development and AI.
Identify customer needs and map them to GitHub Advanced Security capabilities to influence buying decisions and progress opportunities through the sales lifecycle.
Partner with enterprise sales teams to develop and execute strategic account plans that drive GHAS adoption and revenue growth.
Collaborate closely with GitHub and Microsoft stakeholders across sales, product, engineering, marketing, services, and support to ensure aligned execution and customer success.
Act as the Voice of the Customer by capturing feedback, competitive insights, and emerging trends to inform product and roadmap decisions.
Maintain strong pipeline health, forecasting accuracy, and disciplined execution across opportunities.
Demonstrate strong understanding of application security concepts (SAST, DAST, SCA), vulnerability classes, and the broader AppSec market landscape..
What You Bring
Strong application security domain knowledge and passion for securing modern software while improving developer experience.
Proven experience in technical sales, security consulting, or security specialist roles ideally with mid-market or small business customers.
Ability to translate complex security concepts into clear business value for both technical and executive audiences.
Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation while grounded in real-world customer experience.
Experience collaborating across diverse, cross-functional teams to drive shared outcomes.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
4+ years experience in sales, pre-sales, technical consulting, or related field
OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years experience in sales, pre-sales, technical consulting, or related field
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) experience selling Developer Automation, Artificial Intelligence, CICD, Metered Developer Tools, DevOps, Application Security, or DevSecOps solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of experience working with, supporting, or selling Developer Automation, Artificial Intelligence, CICD, Metered Developer Tools, DevOps, Application Security, or DevSecOps solutions such as SAST/DAST/SCA tools.
2 years of experience developing, collaborating, executing on go-to-market
Experience selling in the SMB space
Confident and proven communication skills both written and verbal demonstrated through internal/external speaking events, blogging, conference talks, podcasts, published content etc.
Compensation Range
The base salary range for this job is USD $91,350.00 - USD $242,340.00 /Yr.
In addition, this role also has the opportunity to earn sales incentives. On target earnings (OTE) is based on a 70/30 base salary/sales incentive.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
