Position Description

The Chattopadhyay Ecohydrology Lab at Texas State University invites applications for aPostdoctoral Research Associateto work at the interface ofeco-hydrology, freshwater ecology, and environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis. The postdoc will play a central role in developing a new research program focused onintermittent stream systems, with particular emphasis on understanding howhydrologic @context and environmental gradients shape biodiversity signals for freshwater macroinvertebrates.

This position is ideal for a motivated early-career scientist seeking to grow expertise in interdisciplinary environmental research while contributing to high-impact publications and grant development.

Required Qualifications

PhD in ecology, environmental science, hydrology, biology, or a closely related field (completed by start date).

Experience withfreshwater field researchand environmental sampling.

Familiarity witheDNA workflows, including water sampling and filtration (wet-lab processing experience is welcome but not required).

Working knowledge ofR/Pythonfor ecological data analysis (data handling, visualization, multivariate analyses).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working instream or river systems, particularly intermittent or disturbed systems.

Exposure to eDNA data interpretation (metabarcoding and/or qPCR).

Experience integrating ecological data withhydrologic or spatial datasets.

Interest in expanding quantitative or computational skills (e.g., advanced modeling, machine learning).
