The Enrollment and Marketing Manager serves as the primary recruiter for in-person graduate programs in the Department of Environmental Studies (ENVS), which includes the Master of Science (MS), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and professional Masters of the Environment (MENV) degree programs. This University Staff member is responsible for managing the operations of student recruitment and enrollment, as well as departmental marketing and communications. Additionally, the individual in this role manages a team of graduate student assistants. The Enrollment and Marketing Manager sits within the MENV professional master's program but supports efforts across the department.Department of Environmental Studies: The Department of Environmental Studies (ENVS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is a hub for facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration in environment and sustainability. The department nurtures interdisciplinary academic training for undergraduate and graduate students, provides guidance for students with career aspirations in environment and sustainability venues, promotes diverse professional education experiences, fosters fundamental and applied research, forms meaningful connections with communities beyond the university, and integrates innovative, interdisciplinary programs unified by the themes of environmental research. ENVS offers both research-based and professional graduate programs.Masters of the Environment Graduate Program: The Masters of the Environment (MENV) Graduate Program in the University of Colorado Boulder's Department of Environmental Studies is an interdisciplinary professional master's degree that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to address complex environmental challenges. The MENV program prepares students to become leaders in a wide range of careers in the environment, energy, natural resources, food systems, urban resilience, and sustainability. MENV is distinct from research-based graduate programs (i.e., MS and PhD) in its focus on preparing students for professional environmental and sustainability careers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The program is cohort-based and intensive, including both demanding coursework and a year-long group capstone project with an external partner organization. In addition to a core curriculum focused on environmental science, students in the program are required to choose a subject-matter specialization track. These include Environmental & Natural Resources Policy, Renewable & Sustainable Energy, Sustainability in the Outdoor Industry, and Sustainable Food Systems, and Urban Resilience & Sustainability.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Student Recruitment
Support the Director of Departmental Administration with prioritizing graduate student (MS/PhD and MENV) recruitment and admissions efforts.
Develop an annual recruitment plan in collaboration with departmental leadership.
Identify and manage relationships with external entities for recruitment purposes, including other universities, and private, public, and non-profit sector organizations.
Plan and manage day-to-day student recruitment operations, including prospective student communications (phone calls, emails, in-person meetings).
Respond to prospective student inquiries and send prospective students program information.
Plan, coordinate, and run in-person, on-campus recruitment and networking events, including the fall open house, on-campus information sessions, campus tours and visits, and admitted students' events.
Plan, coordinate, and lead virtual recruitment and networking events, including information sessions and admitted students' events.
Organize and run external recruitment events, including graduate school fairs and information sessions with other universities, professional associations, and external partners.
Liaise with CU offices (e.g., registrar, bursar, financial aid, etc.) to support departmental student recruitment efforts.
Collaborate with the College of Arts & Sciences, the Graduate School, and the Office of Admissions to update departmental applications and due dates.
Lead the administration of graduate recruitment with the faculty admissions committees and department support staff throughout the entire process.
Identify new opportunities for recruitment at local, regional, national, and international levels.
Manage student recruitment efforts to help create a program and culture that appeals to a diverse pool of applicants and removes biases from the admissions process.
Advise faculty admissions committee chairs on potential or actual problems with graduate application processes and recommend solutions to enhance the recruitment process.
Organize graduate applications and assist with training faculty on the Slate application management system and supporting in admissions committee management for an efficient admissions process.
Develop and implement processes to meet the needs of the department's admissions protocols, including systems to assist in analyzing and evaluating relevant data of the applicant pool.
Track electronic application files in Slate through faculty review and the admission process.
Work with admissions committee members to decide on and disseminate programmatic funding to incoming students.
Send and manage official admissions decisions, including visit day invite, admitted, waitlisted, and deferred students, and associated correspondence in a timely manner.
Determine and implement schedules and itineraries for graduate applicant recruitment visits to campus that are aligned with campus regulations and meet departmental budget requirements; develop and disseminate visit itineraries and webpages for recruits with faculty and current graduate students.
Work with the Assistant Director of Graduate Student Success and the Graduate Academic Advisor to ensure admitted students are fully supported between their admission to the program and the first day of classes.
Work with relevant faculty and staff to support student retention efforts as needed (making them aware of resources, services, etc.).
Marketing and Communications
Develop annual marketing and communications plans in collaboration with departmental leadership.
Use new and emerging technologies to effectively and efficiently market the departmental graduate program and communicate with prospective students
Manage all external marketing and communications channels, including the websites, email campaigns, and social media.
Maintain relationships with external marketing/advertising vendor(s) and provide feedback for campaign optimization.
Work closely with the Director of Department Administration, CU Strategic Relations and Communications, and external marketing vendors to effectively showcase departments/programs across various media.
Develop, deploy, and handle all prospective student communications in collaboration with departmental faculty and staff and marketing vendor(s).
Coordinate closely with the College of Arts and Sciences and/or Graduate School staff to develop a comprehensive communication strategy for prospective students.
Work with other CU units, including the International Admissions, Veteran and Military Affairs, Center for Inclusion and Social Change, to effectively market the program to diverse audiences.
Develop and track print and electronic marketing materials.
Ensure marketing materials reflect the program's values.
Review the webpages and compare them with those of other departments on campus and peer institutions. Evaluate content scope and ease of use by domestic and international students. Work with associated faculty to update webpages for recruitment.
Track key performance metrics, solicit feedback from key collaborators, and evaluate the success of recruitment and admissions efforts year-over-year.
Internal Administration
Lead and track marketing and recruitment budgets and expenditures.
Identify challenges, weaknesses, and trouble spots and make recommendations to the Director of Department Administration and/or Graduate Studies Chair for program growth and improvement, including new policies, resolutions, strategic planning, and other innovations with a specific commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusiveness.
Collaborate with staff and faculty across units to plan events for current students, staff, and faculty.
Participate in staff development activities, including appropriate university workshops, conferences, and programs, and state and national professional organizations.
Assist faculty and staff with other activities on an as-needed basis.
Training and Supervision
Hire, train, manage, mentor, and evaluate a small team of student employees who support marketing and recruitment activities.
Collaborate with TA/RAs within the department to facilitate ongoing advancement initiatives, event planning, and other department goals.
Other
Other duties as assigned that support the department's enrollment and marketing operations.
What You Should Know
Work Schedule and Modality
Standard Business Hours and Days: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time) | Monday - Friday
Hybrid Schedule: At least 2+ days per week are required to be in-person.
This can be subject to change based on the business needs of the department, per University and College policies and guidelines.
Examples can include special events, busy times in a semester, training, etc.
Employee may be expected to be on campus Monday-Friday during onboarding, training, and/or professional development events/meetings.
What We Can Offer
The starting salary range for this position is $62,400-$70,200 annually.

What We Require
Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental management, business, marketing/communications, higher education, or a closely related field.
3+ years of professional experience in areas such as operations, marketing/communications, academic program coordination, or related higher education administration.
