Clinical Coordinator (Pharmacy Systems and Outcomes)

Pay: $64.68 - $90.55 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

The Clinical Coordinator specializes in the integration of pharmacy practice, formulary management and health information technology. This role is responsible for the development, optimization, and ongoing support of medication-use systems within the electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical applications. The Clinical Coordinator serves as a critical liaison between the pharmacy department, clinical teams, information technology, and quality and safety departments to ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medication-related technology.
Working collaboratively across departments, the Clinical Coordinator helps to design, implement, and refine clinical decision support tools, standardize medication-related content, and analyze medication-use data to drive continuous improvement. This role also supports regulatory compliance, medication safety initiatives, and the advancement of digital health innovation. By combining clinical pharmacy knowledge with informatics expertise, the Clinical Coordinator ensures that technology solutions align with best practices, enhance patient care, and meet organizational objectives.
This position is ideal for a pharmacist who thrives at the intersection of clinical practice, technology, and systems thinking-someone who can navigate both technical and clinical domains to improve patient outcomes and provider experience.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree of Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
State licensure as a Pharmacist.
2 years post graduate experience.
Responsibilities:
Staffing: 0.1-0.2 FTE (to ensure frontline understanding of workflows, challenges, and opportunities)
Clinical System Design and Optimization
Design and support the maintenance of medication-related content in clinical information systems (e.g., EHRs, CPOE, BCMA, smart pumps).
Optimize workflows and medication-use processes to enhance patient safety, clinician efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Support formulary management clinical decisions and implementation.
Medication Safety and Decision Support
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and support the maintenance of clinical decision support tools (e.g., alerts, order sets, guidelines).
Identify and address safety issues related to medication use through data analysis and event reviews.
Project Management and Implementation
Support implementation of new pharmacy application systems, upgrades, or modules.
Participate in testing, validation, and go-live support for medication-related technologies.
Data Analytics and Reporting
Extract, analyze, and report medication-use data to support quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Develop dashboards and metrics to track key performance indicators in pharmacy and medication safety.
Education and Support
Train and support pharmacy staff and other clinicians on use of medication-related technology and application tools.
Serve as a liaison between pharmacy, IT, clinical users, and vendor support teams.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Partner with nursing, physicians, IT, and quality departments to align medication-use technologies with broader clinical initiatives.
