You will oversee daily site safety operations, support safe execution of industrial coating and equipment-intensive work, and ensure full compliance while driving continuous improvement across all EHS programs.
This position is primarily night-shift , with staggered shift times designed to align with Bay Area traffic patterns and major events. Work takes place during low-impact hours to safely perform lane closures and minimize disruption to the public. The typical workweek ranges from 50 to 60 hours , reflecting the critical, round-the-clock nature of this long-term 5-year project.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
In this Site EHS Manager role, you will support nightly bridge operations by providing on-site safety leadership during all project activities. You will participate in the nightly convoy onto the bridge, ensure crews park and stage in designated safe zones, and oversee compliance with all safety protocols throughout industrial coating, equipment, and lane-closure operations. You will conduct field audits, hazard assessments, and equipment inspections, verify that all work practices meet regulatory and project-specific EHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities include:
Implement Safety Policies: Enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA standards.
Conduct Safety Training: Plan and conduct safety training programs for personnel, focusing on risk prevention and safety procedures.
Perform Safety Inspections: Regularly inspect the job site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Accident Investigation: Coordinate and conduct investigations into accidents, incidents, including near misses and determine root causes, and recommend corrective action.
Any disciplinary action is the sole responsibility of the Site Project Manager and/or Superintendent along with the HR Manager.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions taken.
Communication : Inform project managers, EHS team, and site crew about safety regulations and potential hazards.
Safety Equipment Management: Ensure all safety equipment and protective gear are available and in proper working conditions.
Promote Safey Culture: Foster an environment where safety procedures are diligently followed and promote a culture of safety among the workforces.
Administrative Assistance: Provide admin support as needed to the site project manager which may include data entry, scanning documents, compiling documents into a pdf file, and equipment tracking.
Additional Responsibilities
Sign in/out safety equipment. Primarily air monitors and confined space equipment.
Work as support personnel for the managers onsite. Bring issues up to the foreman, superintendent, site PM, or PM.
Ensure employees on site have the required training/certifications for their scope of work. Regularly run audits of this to ensure compliance.
Assist with periodic inspections as needed i.e. semi-annual fall protection inspections, sampling, etc.
Daily site safety observations and regular site walks.
Conduct weekly toolbox topics and ensure they are the correct topic and recorded properly.
Maintain the calibration of the breather boxes, gas monitors, and any other equipment.
Close training gaps by providing EHS training to workers and coordinating classes.
Mentor and/or coach employees with any safety topics in partnership and direction of field leadership.
Anticipate, Recognize, Evaluate and Mitigate Safety & Health factors in the workplace.
Evaluate JSA's daily for accuracy of activities and a cooperative partnership and good communication with field leadership.
Immediately correct any unsafe condition; document and advise proper chain of command. Document all issues and corrective actions taken.
Attend site safety meetings as a representative, report all issues or concerns brought up with field leadership and corporate safety.
Attend all assigned training and/or meetings as requested.
Maintain confidential information regarding the company and/or its personnel.

In addition to your passion and purpose, to be successful in this Site EHS Manager role, we would like for you to have the following:
OSHA 500 Certification
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) from the Board of Safety Professionals.
Competent knowledge and application of the safety principles and practices listed above.
Must have a broad working knowledge in the theory and practice of IH including methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting samples and testing for health hazards common in the industrial painting business.
Must be able to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Must have excellent writing abilities in the preparation and delivery of safety plans, reports, training materials, investigations, and other written correspondence.
Ability to effectively work with all levels of people from entry level laborers to Project Leaders, Division Managers, corporate office staff, and public officials.
No less than seven (7) years' experience in Safety or IH management.
Computer proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Windows, Outlook, etc.)
Must be able to organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
Highly sought after experience:
Bachelor's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field of study
Ten (10) years' experience in a similar position
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Experience in the Industrial Painting Trades, including spray and manual applications of solvent-based materials, pressurized equipment, fire prevention, various forms of surface preparation, hazardous material handling and disposal, respiratory protection, SDS interpretations, etc.
