As a Backend Web Developer at CGI Federal, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems for web applications that support a federal law enforcement agency's classified environment. This position requires strong technical expertise in backend development, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance applications.
This position is located in our Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for web applications, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
Administer and manage the Atlassian platform, including Confluence, JIRA, and associated plug-ins.
Administer the daily operation of a scalable GitLab and GitLab CI platform, working with development teams on CI/CD processes and container implementation.
Administer and perform routine operations within HP/Autonomy TeamSite and Open Deploy platforms.
Administer the WordPress platform and support legacy applications, including Python, PHP, or Java web applications.
Manage and maintain MySQL databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
Develop APIs and services to support front-end functionality and third-party integrations.
Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure solutions align with federal standards and mission requirements.
Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of five (5) years in backend web development with expertise in designing and implementing secure solutions.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP, or similar.
Experience with database management systems like MySQL.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
Ability to administer Atlassian Confluence/JIRA, GitLab, HP/Autonomy TeamSite, Open Deploy, and WordPress platforms.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD processes and container implementation.
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience in federal government or diplomatic environment at the department level or experience supporting classified environments within federal law enforcement or Intelligence Community organizations.
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks (800-53, 800-171, 800-190).
Additional certifications in cloud technologies or cybersecurity.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $63,700.00 - $156,700.00.
