The Information Security Analyst plays a vital role in protecting the state's information systems by identifying and mitigating security threats. This position supports the implementation of security policies and standards, ensures secure systems engineering in compliance with standards, manages change procedures, and responds to security incidents to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical IT resources for the assigned agency.
As part of the Business Information Security team, the analyst educates agency staff on security best practices, regularly reviews security assessments with designated agency personnel, and collaborates with assigned agencies to enhance the overall security posture of the agency's infrastructure.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 500 Lafayette Road, Saint Paul, Min nesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in an information security role.
Experience must include:
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and federal information security standards (i.e. NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, etc.).
Experience conducting Risk Assessments and developing System Security Plans (SSP's).
Experience with identifying, analyzing, and responding to security events-such as triage, containment, eradication, recovery, managing incidents through ticket handling, escalation, documentation, root-cause analysis, and after-action reporting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing and maintaining documentation including procedures, standards, policies, spreadsheets.
Experience working across diverse business lines to resource and monitor remediation efforts to ensure compliance policies and standards or regulations.
Ability to anticipate, and plan work tasks as well as follow direction and guidance from others.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
Information Security related certifications: such as CISSP, CCE, GSFI, ENCE, GSEC, CISSP, CEH, ITIL, and PCI-DSS.
Knowledge of best practices for securing applications using a variety of coding languages (i.e., REST, Oracle, Ruby on Rails, GIS frameworks, etc.).
Experience leading technical projects.
