Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and job-costing functions within a construction environment. This role is ideal for someone experienced in construction accounting, comfortable working in QuickBooks Desktop, and who enjoys wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced, small-company setting. The position focuses on contract billing, cash flow tracking, accounts receivable/accounts payable support, payroll coordination, and year-end accounting support, working closely with internal team members and outside accountants.

Responsibilities

Track, maintain, and report project costs for construction jobs.

Enter, reconcile, and maintain job cost data in QuickBooks Desktop.

Generate accounting and job costing reports for internal management, an external accounting firm, and an accounting consultant.

Collaborate closely with managers to ensure accurate and timely job costing.

Prepare backlog reports and manage subcontractor and client retainage.

Enter equipment job costing entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

Process and reconcile subcontractor and vendor invoices.

Manage vendor accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.

Maintain compliance documentation, including W9s, Certificates of Insurance, and Public Work Certificates.

Generate and manage lien waivers and obtain warranties before releasing final payments.

Prepare and issue client invoices in a timely manner.

Execute and reconcile monthly billing ranging from $10-15 million in revenue.

Enter monthly contract billing into QuickBooks Desktop and follow up with clients regarding payment status.

Maintain and adjust union labor billing rates and enter intercompany billing when required.

Assist with certified payroll reporting for 10-20 employees.

Submit monthly OCIP payroll reports and prepare payroll reports by insurance class code.

Enter monthly journal entries for intercompany transactions.

Complete insurance renewal applications and assist with estimated payroll calculations by class code for insurance renewals.

Execute OCIP enrollments and update insurance rates in QuickBooks Desktop.

Complete construction credit applications and prepare documentation for audits and compliance reviews.

Manage client and vendor compliance documentation and provide Minority and Affirmative Action reports to clients as requested.

Assist with prequalification applications and support ISN reporting.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop.

Experience with reconciliation and job costing.

Knowledge of contract billing and cash flow management.

Ability to manage accounts payable and receivable.

Experience with certified payroll and union benefits.

Strong skills in month-end and year-end close processes.

Associates degree in Accounting or related field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

General ledger experience.

Familiarity with union payroll.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Pays 80% of health for the employee dental vision 401K match up to 4%

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Woodbridge,NJ.
