Job Summary
The Supply Chain Associate Category Manager, Commercial Governance provides focused commercial governance over the EPC agreement and major owner-furnished equipment contracts, ensuring compliance, disciplined change management, accurate milestone validation, and claims prevention. This individual must be able to interpret complex contracts, manage high-volume change processes, and interface effectively with Legal, Project Controls, and EPC commercial teams.
Job Description
Key Roles & Responsibilities
EPC Contract Administration
Serve as the owner's primary contract administrator for the EPC agreement
Interpret and enforce contract terms, conditions, and commercial provisions
Manage the formal change control process including evaluation, documentation, and approval
Ensure contract deliverables are tracked, validated, and documented
Identify potential claims and disputes early and coordinate resolution strategies with Legal
Milestone & Payment Governance
Validate that contractual milestones are genuinely earned before recommending payment
Track milestone completion against project schedule and contract requirements
Administer progress payment processes with appropriate documentation
Monitor and enforce incentive and liquidated damage provisions
Maintain payment tracking and forecasting for project financial reporting
Change Management & Claims Prevention
Own the commercial change log and ensure all changes are documented, evaluated, and dispositioned
Evaluate commercial impact of scope changes, schedule adjustments, and force majeure events
Coordinate with Legal on contract interpretation questions and dispute avoidance
Track cumulative change impact to prevent scope creep from eroding contract value
Support the team in preparing for commercial negotiations and dispute resolution
Commercial Documentation & Audit Readiness
Maintain auditable commercial records for all EPC and major OFE contracts
Ensure correspondence, meeting minutes, and decisions are formally documented
Support internal and external audits with complete, organized contract files
Prepare commercial status reports for the Director and project leadership
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree ; Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or Contract Management or equivalent
Experience
10-12 years of EPC or large capital project contract administration experience
Strong track record of claims prevention and change management in complex projects
Experience working with internal and external legal counsel on contract disputes
Nuclear or regulated industry experience preferred; power generation or infrastructure preferred?
Category management and associated Supply Chain functional foundation
Project management experience a plus
Skills
Expert-level contract interpretation and drafting skills
Strong understanding of OFE and EPC contract structures
Proficiency in contract management systems and ERP platforms (Conga, Maximo a plus)
Demonstrated strategic accumen
Strong analytical and financial skills
Meticulous attention to detail and documentation discipline
Strong written communication skills (contract language, formal correspondence)
Collaborative relationship with Legal while maintaining commercial independence
Comfort with ambiguity and evolving contract interpretations
