Summary This position is part of the Office of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security, Department of Energy. As a Operations Manager, you will be the Operations Manager for Office of Executive Protection that focuses on directing, planning, and evaluating complex criminal investigative programs. Responsibilities The Department of Energy's mission is to ensure America's security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions. The Office of Environment, Health, Safety, and Security office is responsible for policy development and technical assistance; safety analysis; and corporate safety and security programs. As a Operations Manager, you will: Direct and manage complex criminal investigative programs. Coordinate training for agents (weapons qualification, certification), and manage logistical aspects for deployments. Create intelligence products and threat assessments to support the deployment and employment of staff for executive protection missions. Lead and supervise a team of criminal investigators and special agents. Make key decisions on investigative direction, techniques, and handling classified materials for cases related to national security. Establish and foster relationships with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and intelligence community partners to coordinate investigations and share threat information. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Waiver of Mandatory Entry Age: Criminal Investigator (GS-1811) positions generally carry a mandatory maximum entry age of 40 in accordance with applicable regulations and DOE policy. DOE may waive the maximum entry age requirement for this recruitment. MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties require moderate to arduous physical exertion involving walking, prolonged periods of standing, use of firearms, impact weapons, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Sufficiently good distance vision in each eye, correction permitted, to 20/20 is mandatory. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of @typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involve activities under trying conditions, applicant must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to him/herself, or others is disqualifying. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Overseeing the planning, direction, and evaluation of significant investigative or protective programs; AND Developing and implementing operational plans and strategies involving high-risk or national security concerns. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
