About the Role:

The Legal Intern position is a structured, 10 week internship within CBRE's Americas Advisory Legal team, part of the Global Governance organization. Designed for law students seeking meaningful, hands on experience, the role provides direct exposure to transactional legal work in a fast paced, collaborative environment. Interns work closely with experienced in house counsel on real matters supporting CBRE's leasing, capital markets, and valuations operations throughout the United States, Canada, and LATAM.
CBRE Legal interns are fully integrated into the team. Rather than observing from the sidelines, interns contribute to active matters, develop practical legal skills, and gain insight into how legal advice supports a market leading global business. The program emphasizes professional development, sound legal judgment, and collaboration-providing a strong foundation for careers in corporate, transactional, or in house legal practice.
What You'll Do:
Perform legal research on commercial real estate, contract law, regulatory, and compliance issues.
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements and related legal documents.
Support the preparation of internal legal memoranda, management reports, and internal presentations.
Maintain and update internal legal resources, including state law and regulatory summaries.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the organization's operations.
Collaborate with internal business partners to support compliance with company policies and applicable law.
Contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the legal team.
Participate in intern training, professional development programming, and cross-functional engagement.
Prepare and present a capstone project at the conclusion of the internship.
Location : Chicago, IL (In Person) *Please note, we do not provide relocation for this internship. Qualified applicants will need to be in Chicago for the duration of the program without assistance from CBRE

What You'll Need:
Current enrollment as a 2L (or equivalent) at an accredited law school.
Strong academic performance with demonstrated interest in corporate law, compliance, or business transactions.
Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments.
Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work effectively under close supervision while taking ownership of assigned work.

Illinois Residents: CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate's education, training and experience. The minimum salary for the Intern position is $37.00 per hour and the maximum salary for the Intern position is $37.50 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
