About the Role:
As a CBRE Software Engineer Principal supporting AI-ML initiatives, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing systems and workflows supporting multiple initiatives. You will also evaluate, design, and develop new features to advance our technology offerings utilizing the latest advances in AI-ML. This position requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or Technical Expert with significant experience in building and scaling data-driven and AI-based systems. The ideal candidate will possess both hands-on technical expertise in use of AI-ML and a strategic vision to drive the architecture, deployment, and optimization of advanced AI and data platforms, including agentic AI solutions.
What You'll Do:
Architect and lead the design of scalable data and AI platforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and security across distributed systems.
Develop and deploy agentic AI solutions - autonomous or semi-autonomous systems capable of reasoning, decision-making, and adaptive task execution.
Provide thought leadership in data architecture, analytics, and AI system design, shaping organizational AI strategies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver end-to-end intelligent systems.
Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge tools such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Vertex AI, or LangChain-based frameworks for advanced reasoning capabilities.
Mentor teams in emerging AI technologies, ensuring best practices in data management, model governance, and ethical AI deployment
Develop, maintain, enhance, and test systems. Coordinate the implementation of other systems.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact on client engagements of critical value to the organization.
Perform the investigation and resolution of data, systems, and software issues in the production environment.
Complete needed maintenance and management of production management.
Liaise directly with clients on strategic engagements and with strategic partners on system and data integration.
Perform the specification and design of new features at client or business request.
Evaluate new platforms, tools, and technologies.
Showcase in-depth expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques, and/or technologies within their own function.
Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Negotiates with senior management, customers, regulators, or vendors to influence decisions of strategic importance. Anticipate potential objections, and persuade others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.

Bachelor's Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; a combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrated multi-dimensional, conceptual, and innovative thinking to develop new solutions.
Ability to identify and resolve the most complex problems with creative solutions.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Exceptional organizational skills paired with an inquisitive mindset.
Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala, with experience in building data pipelines, AI/ML workflows, or microservices architectures.
Expertise in data engineering, machine learning, and cloud computing (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
Deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and autonomous/agentic AI systems.
Proven ability to build and scale intelligent agents or AI-driven decision support systems.

The pay range for this position is subject to an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. The negotiated rate for the Union Engineer position is $52.15 per hour. Please refer to the Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding pay scale.
