Job Duties and Responsibilities
EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for a Mobility Software Engineering Intern . This position will be located at our office in Germantown, MD.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and enhance cloud-native backend services deployed on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or AWS
Collaborate with engineers and architects to build scalable, secure, and high-performance applications supporting the Aero mobility platform
Work with multiple structured and unstructured data sets, including data ingestion, transformation, and storage
Write efficient and optimized queries (SQL and/or NoSQL) to support backend application functionality and analytics
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services using modern programming languages and frameworks
Contribute to the development and enhancement of user interfaces, collaborating with backend teams to ensure seamless integration
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies to improve software quality and maintainability
Use cloud-native tools and services (e.g., compute, storage, messaging, monitoring) to support application development and deployment
Assist in debugging, performance tuning, and resolving application issues across development and test environments
Document designs, implementation details, and usage guidelines to support long-term maintainability
Gain domain knowledge of the Aero Program and satellite mobility systems to better align technical solutions with business needs
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
GPA 3.3 or above
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, in a related field of study
Must have 60 credit hours completed by May 2026
Skills and Qualifications:
Hands-on experience developing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Strong understanding of backend application development, including APIs, services, and data access layers
Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases and writing efficient, optimized queries
Familiarity with data modeling, data pipelines, and handling multiple data sources
Experience with one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, Node.js, or JavaScript
Exposure to frontend/UI development using frameworks or libraries such as React, Angular, Vue.js, or similar
Understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Ability to work under general supervision, manage tasks independently, and learn new technologies quickly

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $51,000.00/Year - $73,000.00/Year
