T1 WTR Senior Electric Motor Technician
JOB DESCRIPTION
Guided by a belief in extensive data analysis and a commitment to collaborative global relationships, the Industrial Wastewater (IWT) team is responsible for providing continuous compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. At our wastewater plant on the Samsung Taylor Semiconductor campus, our Operations team's drive for sustainability and operational excellence is balanced by our need to adopt tomorrow's technologies to ensure plant resilience, environmental stewardship, and the safety of our staff. The T1 WTR team is seeking an experienced Sr. Electric Motor Technician to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance (PMs), removals, replacements, and repairs of electric motors in various industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical maintenance, specifically with electric motors, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions

Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on electric motors, including but not limited to:
Visual inspections
Vibration analysis
Thermal imaging
Cleaning and lubrication of motors and associated equipment
Remove and replace electric motors as needed, ensuring proper installation and alignment
Repair electric motors up to but not including rewinding and full rebuilds, specifically:
Bearing replacement and repair
Seal replacement and repair
Shaft repair and replacement
Endbell and housing repair and replacement
Troubleshoot and diagnose motor problems using various testing equipment and techniques
Collaborate with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and effective maintenance operations
Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, PM schedules, and parts inventory
Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime and optimize motor performance
Provide training and guidance to junior technicians as needed
Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols during all operations
Use root cause analysis tools to identify permanent solutions for recurrence failures causing equipment downtime.
Provide technical support during commissioning and start up for new electric motor equipment, installation, configuration and testing.
Understands interactions with other departments in activities such as maintenance scheduling
Identifies areas of business process improvement opportunities and provides input with solutions
Interprets issues/questions regarding schematics, diagrams, written/verbal instructions, layouts or defined plans
Interact actively with stakeholders and departments on work planning and coordination
Mentors/trains lower level technicians.
Develop and maintain SOPs using technical expertise and in conformance with standards.
Decides which @type of maintenance is needed, selects parts for replacement
May participate on cross-functional teams
May conduct and/or oversee routine inspections and investigations
Interprets complex data from equipment, processes etc.
Applies knowledge of relevant best practices, state and local code in area of expertise
Regular attendance and timeliness is required per departmental guidelines
Adhere and enforce safety rules, follow safe procedures and guidelines.
Support plant operation during off-hours as needed
Competencies/Experience Needed
5+ years of experience as an electric motor technician or in a related field
Completion of a technical training program in electrical maintenance or a related field
Strong knowledge of electric motor theory, design, and application
Experience with motor control systems, including starters, drives, and controls
Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration analysis and thermal imaging
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with heavy equipment
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Work Environment
All work is performed in an industrial environment.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift >45 lbs
Able to stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs daily, able to climb stairs and ladders
May perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and may sometimes have to twist and bend body
Vision - May be exposed to yellow lights, blinking lights
Able to discern audible alarms
Potential to work with materials which contain hazardous chemicals
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Employees assigned to a Compressed Work Week (CWW) schedules, designated A, B, C, or D above, work a 12-hour shift, either three or four days per week depending on the shift rotation. The CWW shift begins at 5:45 and ends at 6:15 each scheduled day.
Travel
No overnight travel is expected for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
Certification as an electric motor technician or a related field (e.g. Certified Electric Motor Technician (CEMT))
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g. NFPA, OSHA)
Experience with root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA)
High School Diploma or technical school certification preferred
Typically requires 5-10 years of experience
Semiconductor or high-volume manufacturing experience preferred
The ability to Obtain TCEQ "C" Operators Certificate within 2 years of employment

Computer -Based Work & Technical Proficiency
The role involves extensive use of computers for data entry, documentation, analysis, and internal communication.
Candidates must be comfortable and proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, etc.) and able to learn new office applications quickly.
Familiarity with enterprise CMMS (Computer-Aided Maintenance Management System) software and Confluence is required for daily task management, issue tracking, and collaboration.
Must pass drug screen and background check, as a condition of employment.
