General Summary Statement

Provides technical support to internal and external customers by efficiently performing a wide variety of tasks utilizing digital and Picture and Archive Communication Systems (PACS) technology with the ultimate goal of accurate and efficient utilization of electronic/manual image and data storage, reporting and distribution methodologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receive outside films done at other facilities; tracking in computer.

Retrieves and/or creates patients' electronic folders and physical radiology jackets.

Accesses reports and other patient or exam data to the appropriate physician's office in a timely manner.

Re-prints and packages images via PACS, film, and/or CDs for distribution and delivery to physicians' offices utilizing proper Quality Assurance measures.

Digitizing Mammograms.

Maintains film management and reading room areas in a well-stocked and organized manner.

Courteously handles all incoming telephone calls for reports and release of films

Completes release information for film/disk and/or report pick-up. Follows departmental policy for photo identification prior to release of radiology records. Complies with HIPPA policies for the release of patient information.

Demonstrates knowledge of personal computer operating systems (RIS, PACS, Penn Chart)

Verifies patient exam history using the Radiology Information System.

Demonstrates ability to fax and print results as needed.

Directs requests from attorneys to the designated person in charge of legal

Education Training and Experience

· High School graduate

· Knowledge of medical terminology

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Highly organized, efficient work habits

· Effective problem solving
