Electrician Assembly Team Leader

Job Summary

The Electrician Assembly Team Leader is a hands-on working leader responsible for guiding a team of electricians in the electrical assembly and wiring of manufactured equipment and systems. This role balances active participation on the floor with day-to-day leadership, ensuring electrical assemblies are built safely, accurately, and on schedule to meet production and quality requirements.

Primary Job Responsibilities

Lead a team of electricians in hands-on electrical assembly, wiring, and installation of manufactured products

Actively perform electrical work alongside the team as needed

Assign daily work, monitor progress, and adjust priorities to meet production schedules

Read, interpret, and execute work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material

Ensure assemblies meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements

Troubleshoot electrical and assembly issues and provide technical guidance to team members

Perform inspections and functional testing of completed electrical assemblies

Enforce electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies

Coordinate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve design or build issues

Train and mentor electricians and assemblers; support onboarding and skill development

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area (5S principles)

Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased manufacturing efficiency

Job Requirements:

Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent electrical certification

5+ years of experience in electrical assembly or industrial/manufacturing electrical work

Previous experience as a lead, senior electrician, or supervisor preferred

Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings

Working knowledge of NEC, electrical safety standards, and industrial best practices

Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Skills & Competencies:

Hands-on leadership and team coordination

Strong communication and coaching skills

High attention to detail and commitment to build quality

Ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and test equipment

Basic computer skills for documentation and production tracking

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing/production environment

Regular standing, bending, lifting, and use of hand and power tools

Occasional overtime may be required to meet production deadlines

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: Electrical Supervisor / Production Manager

Supervises: Electricians and Electrical Assemblers
