NEW EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEERING OPPORTUNITY SUPPORTING ADVANCED AVIONICS PRODUCTS FOR A TOP AEROSPACE COMPANY IN NEW YORK

Job Description

As a Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in reviewing customer specifications and referenced statutory and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include preparing Validation and Verification (V&V) planning and standard documentation required for certification, capturing customer and derived requirements, and participating in creating technical documents that describe system operations.

Responsibilities

Prepare Validation and Verification (V&V) planning and standard documentation required for certification.

Capture customer and derived requirements allocated to the disciplines in a clear, complete, and unambiguous manner.

Participate in creating technical documents describing the system operation, creating functional block diagrams, detailing specifications, and system compliance methods.

Develop software processes per Aerospace Standards.

Review code to ensure it meets applicable Design Assurance Level (DAL) requirements and achieve appropriate test coverage.

Manage the preparation and release of software and logic documentation to obtain FAA/EASA product certification.

Interface with customers and suppliers during technical discussions and reviews.

Prepare Software Development Life Cycle Data detailing requirements, design descriptions, test requirements, and traceability.

Coordinate with Program Managers on required resources and development.

JOB SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the aerospace industry.

Experience with full development life cycle per aerospace standards RTCA/DO-178.

Proficiency in C programming for embedded microcontroller applications.

Ability to use standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.).

Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle Data as required for civil certification (FAA in the US and/or EASA in Europe).

Very familiar with Software development process per RTCA standard DO-178.

BS in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or applicable equivalent experience.

Experience working with IBM Rational DOORS is desired.

Familiarity with ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553B, RS-232/422, SPI, I2C protocols.

Experience in Systems Integration, Traceability, and Test is a plus.

LabVIEW and Lab Windows CVI experience is a plus.

Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio programming is a plus.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, Visio).

Very good communication skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainview, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $84.00/hr.
