Summary Applicant serves as the Administrative Officer (AO) of the Dental Service. The Dental Service serves Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The Administrative Officer reports directly to the Chief, Dental Service, The AO (Administrative Officer) is knowledgeable of the policies and procedures of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the VA Medical Center, and Is well versed on dental eligibility regulations, performance goals, and administrative requirements of the Dental Service. Responsibilities Provides management services and serves as a liaison to all clinical/technical staff within Dental Service; Interprets Chief on schedules and data requirements; Reviews office needs, plans, and goals with Chief to develop budget data and justification for review and approval; Serves as a COR to all Dental Service contracts; Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff; Listens to and resolves informal complaints and grievances; Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters; Develops functional statements, position descriptions, performance appraisals and competencies; Provides orientation and guidance, and relates policies, procedures and regulations; Manages and executes budget formulation; and, Reviews purchase card orders for supplies and instruments. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 7. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
