About the Patient's Compensation Fund
The Patient's Compensation Fund (PCF) was created in 1975 to provide an affordable and guaranteed medical malpractice coverage system for the private healthcare providers in the state. The Patient's Compensation Fund is a self-funded state entity, operating independently of the main state budget, and governed by the PCF Oversight Board. The Patient's Compensation Fund provides protection for the healthcare system, keeping costs down, and providing a guaranteed pool of funds to pay those citizens injured from the medical malpractice of private care providers.
We are a small agency invested in retaining a skilled, productive, engaged, diverse team that we support through training and development, building connections, and supporting a harmonious work life while delivering quality services to the citizens of Louisiana.
About this Position
This is a challenging and complex position requiring organizational skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and a thorough understanding of the applicable laws, rules, procedures, processes, and terminology to follow all proceedings from initial request for the formation of a medical review panel to final disposition. The incumbents shall maintain objectivity and due care in the review and handling of each filing. The incumbents must observe deadline-driven time constraints as provided under State law in carrying out the work of the MRP program. The incumbents must exercise independent judgment and sound decision-making skills in performing all duties and responsibilities as well as effectively problem-solve elevated matters within the unit and with the customer. The position reports to and receives broad supervision from the Panel Administrative Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Exercises judgment to research, analyze, and interpret medical malpractice review panel requests.
Reviews attorney chair selections to ensure accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
Verifies dismissal notices for correctness and proper documentation.
Evaluates panel opinions rendered by the medical review panels for completeness and procedural compliance.
Tracks all aspects of the medical review panel process from initiation through conclusion.
Maintains computer records of all panel participants and case activity.
Processes credentialing requests to ensure timely and accurate verification of provider information.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Full-time, Classified. Probational.
Work Schedule:Monday - Friday, overtime as needed.
Career Progression:This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled at an Administrative Coordinator 3 or Administrative Coordinator 4 level, which will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.
