Job Title: Surgical Technician (Ancillary Services)

Provides Direct Support To: Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, WA 98431

Duty Hours: Monday -- Sunday and holidays, includes shift work such as evening, nights and/or days. A thirty (30) minute meal break and two fifteen (15) minute breaks; (1) during the first 6 hours of the shift and (1) the last 6 hours of the end of the shift will be permissible. Actual shifts worked will include 12 shifts, 10-hour shifts, 8-hour shifts, and/or according to the needs of the unit. Duty Schedules Day Shift: 0645-1515, 0845-1715, 1045-1915, 0645-1715, 0645-1915 Evening Shift: 1445-2315 Night Shift: 2245-0715, 1845-0715

Degree Certificate

Education Graduate from Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians, surgical technologists or operating room technicians.

Certification: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.

Basic Life Support (BLS).

Experience: One year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician after graduation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: The duties include but are not limited to the following Performs the full spectrum of sterile techniques, setting up surgical trays, preparing and draping patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings. Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure, to include restocking surgical supplies. Maintain a clean safe environment for the patient either by active participation in cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in the environmental maintenance.
