This position exists to coordinate and support the continued implementation and maintenance of the current U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards, subsequently referred to as the AFRPS. These standards establish a uniform basis for measuring and improving the performance of prevention, intervention, and response activities of animal food regulatory programs in the United States. The AFRPS Coordinator is responsible for the development and implementation of the AFRPS strategic improvement plans for the Commercial Feed Program, project management of implementation, evaluation, conformance, and enhancement activities, and reporting on the AFRPS cooperative agreement deliverables. Finally, this position manages, coordinates, and supports the use of quality management systems and document control for the Commercial Feed Program and the division, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Biology, Business Administration, Business Management, Chemistry, Environmental Health, Food Systems, Public Administration, Public Health, or other related fields; PLUS two (2) years of experience in a food or feed regulatory program such as conducting food or feed related inspections, audits, compliance and enforcement work OR experience in an agricultural or environmental regulatory program conducting inspections, audits, compliance and enforcement work, or similar.
OR
Three (3) years of experience in a food or feed regulatory program such as conducting food or feed related inspections, audits, compliance and enforcement work OR experience in an agricultural or environmental regulatory program conducting inspections, audits, compliance and enforcement work, or similar.
AND
Excellent written and verbal communication skills sufficient to create and organize division procedures and documentation that are clear to non-technical audiences, comply with regulations and FDA requirements, and are legally defensible. The individual must also prepare original correspondence and reports for specific projects or situations.
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel at all levels in the Minnesota Department of Agriculture as well as external partners and regulated industry.
Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft 365 applications, including but not limited to PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; and in using SharePoint, or other data management and collaboration systems.
Knowledge of project management practices and ability to plan, direct, and evaluate projects.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record subject to review.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) or more years of experience in a feed or food regulatory program as an inspector who has inspected facilities and assessed them for conformance with local, state, and/or federal food/feed safety or public health regulations. Knowledge of regulatory procedures and commercial feed laws, regulations, and rules.
Two (2) or more years of experience performing project management, quality management, or quality assurance tasks.
Master's degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, or a related field such as Animal Health, Animal Welfare, or Animal Reproduction.
Project Management Certification or similar certification.
Knowledge of Minnesota commercial feed laws and regulations administered by the Food & Feed Safety Division.
Ability to adjust with changing technology and science, and to apply these changes to developing policies and procedures, as necessary.
