Summary/Objective:
Under broad supervision of the Deputy Executive Director of Programs, the Assistant Director of Residential Learning is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring of the Roosevelt Warm Springs (RWS) and Cave Spring (CS) academic and transition services, Work-Based Learning, health services, campus life, and facility police programs. Position works closely with the Director of Residential Services in directing the development and implementation of policies, programs, curriculum, and budget in a manner that promotes the development of each RWS and CS student and the professional development of each RWS and CS staff member in the area of responsibility. Position supervises staff, identifies staff development needs, submits reports, monitors program and student outcomes, staff performance, and prepares and monitors the department budget.
Essential Functions:

Work closely with RWS Executive Leadership for the purpose of implementing student education at RWS and Cave Spring Campuses.
Develop business partnerships with local and state-wide stakeholders and businesses to facilitate education pathway expansion and exploration aligned with the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Provide direction and oversight to the academic and transition services, Work-Based Learning, health services, campus life, and facility police programs.
In area of responsibility, monitors the development and implementation of programs to ensure outcomes align with the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Collaborates with other RWS/CS Cabinet members to coordinate educational programming and services available on the campuses.
Prepares proposes, and monitors contracts and purchases for programs under area of responsibility to ensure compliance with terms and conditions of agreements.
Collaborate with RWS financial services for oversight of processes, procedures and department financial reporting.
Identify and facilitate staff development needs in areas of responsibility.
Supervise assigned personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employee action.
Make recommendations and monitor the departmental budget.
Collaborate with other RWS/CS Cabinet members to develop initiatives that promote awareness of RWS/CS programs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the departments in area of responsibility and make recommendations or revisions as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Executive Director of Programs in partnership with Director of Residential Services.
Work closely with RWS Executive Leadership to develop an instructional short- and long-range educational improvement plan.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience, which includes three (3) years of subordinate managerial or supervisory experience in a human service delivery program; or related certification and four (4) years of job related subordinate managerial or supervisory experience in a human service delivery program; or three (3) years of experience at the lower level Mgr. 3, Social Svcs. (SSM012) or position equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the required education and experience, possess one or more of the following:
Master's degree in Educational Administration and/or Educational Specialist degree from an accredited institution with a focus in Leadership and/or Instruction.
Active teaching certification and five (5) or more years of professional experience as a certified teacher in a public or private K-12 school, preferably working with students with disabilities.
Five (5) or more years in a Principal role at a public or private K-12 school.
Supervisory Responsibility:
As a department head, this position supervises staff as well as the daily operations of the department and the services provided within the department.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
Incumbents working in this job perform duties in an office setting. This is a 40-hour workweek requirement. The position may involve managing a high-volume workload and demands a high level of accuracy while working with deadlines. Regular attendance is an important part of being successful in this position. Reasonable accommodations can be made available to qualified individuals upon request.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.
Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
