2026 Network Engineering Intern

Lockheed Martin's Enterprise Information Technology (IT) team is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Digital Workplace and Communication Services (DWCS) group. As a Network Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with our Data Center Network (DCN) Service Team and DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI) Service team on exciting projects that deliver high-performance, secure, and scalable network environments for the enterprise.

About the Role:

Work on data center networking initiatives and DNS-related projects to gain hands-on experience in enterprise networking

Collaborate with experienced engineers to design, implement, and troubleshoot network solutions

Develop valuable technical skills and experience in troubleshooting and customer service

Contribute to the delivery of high-quality network services that meet the needs of our enterprise users

Gain real-world experience in a fast-paced and dynamic IT environment

About the Internship:

This internship is designed to provide you with the skills and experience needed to transition into an IT Engineering role upon graduation

You will be immersed in a production enterprise network environment, working on real-world projects and gaining practical experience

Basic Qualifications:

Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a computer-related major (such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field).
Have basic knowledge of Networking Fundamentals Concepts.
Have familiarity with network hardware like routers and switches.
Interest in developing troubleshooting skills using tools, automation and scripts.

Desired Skills:
Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python.
Basic understanding of network security concepts.
Be willing and able to obtain a security clearance, as required for certain projects and assignments.

Ability to Work Remotely: Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $36,504 - $77,788. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
