Responsibilities

Protect patients, visitors, and staff by actively patrolling all areas of the hospital, monitoring surveillance, and maintaining a professional, high-visibility security presence.

Respond with speed and composure to all security and emergency situations, including fire alarms, medical calls, and managing disruptive or aggressive individuals.

Investigate and accurately document all security-related incidents and patrol activities, ensuring comprehensive and compliant records for proper follow-up.

Support a safe and healing environment by consistently enforcing facility policies and procedures with fairness and compassionate service.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Security Guard obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Drivers License credentialed from the Kansas Department of Motor Vehicles required.

BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Law Enforcement preferred.

Management of Aggressive Behavior credentialed from the Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International, Inc preferred.

Security Professional preferred.

Education:

High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences

Possession of a current, valid state-issued license or certification to carry a firearm as an Armed Security Officer in Kansas (Wichita/Sedgwick County).

Successful completion of recognized professional training in verbal de-escalation, crisis intervention, and non-lethal defense tactics.

A minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in a security, military, or law enforcement role, preferably within a healthcare or high-traffic service environment.
