Monday - Friday 08:00 - 4:30

Job Requirements:

Possess the ability to communicate effectively and professionally as interdisciplinary team members and provide optimal customer service to internal and external customers.

Be proficient in spoken and written English.

Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism. This includes showing courtesy, respect, and a positive attitude toward patients, co-workers and the public.

Provide front-line assistance to customers with questions or concerns.

Identify customer concerns.

Apply discernment and sensitivity when performing tasks required to resolve issues accurately, timely and follow-up to ensure satisfactory resolution.

Operate and use computer programs and databases to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive information and various data into or from electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and/or reporting formats.

Use computer programs and databases to make appointments in a clinical setting.

Maintain patient confidentiality with written and verbal information, per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.

Be a citizen of the United States.

Have the following experience or education (or combination of both) to meet minimum qualifications for employment:

Six months experience of clerical, office, customer service, or other administrative work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position.

Applicants can substitute one year of education above high school to qualify.

One year of education above high school or one to two years of related job experience.

Experience/Education combination:

Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for an entry level position for which both education and experience are acceptable.

Work independently in a proficient and self-directed manner to accomplish a wide variety of tasks, including setting priorities and coordinating work.

Be dependable and use good judgment to effectively and properly analyze and evaluate all situations to ensure that veteran's welfare is protected.

Be able to @type a minimum of 40 words per minute, as data entry is a main responsibility of this position.

Be knowledgeable in operating several @types of office equipment and software/databases relative to data extraction and inputting.

Have basic knowledge of the functionality of a computerized patient record system.

Please note no smoking is allowed on VA Health Care premises.
