What You Will Do
The Supply Chain and Logistics division (SCL-DO) is seeking an R&D Engineer. This individual will report to the Strategic Alliance & Continuous Improvement team, which reports directly to the division office. In this role, the individual must successfully collaborate with management from cross-functional organizations such as IQPA, PAQ, AMPP, PT, C-AAC, MST-16, and PF to lead and manage projects that support the SCL-DO mission. The required scope is summarized below.
Supply Chain & Logistics Risk Management: To manage and lead these projects, the ideal candidate should possess the ability to develop methodologies for identifying component sources and critical-path components. The candidate will assist in developing a standardized procurement approach driven by long-term planning and project schedules, meet routinely with stakeholders, and continuously assess their needs and priorities. They will build and implement risk program elements and report on associated risks periodically. Additional projects will include overseeing cross-organizational processes and functions to identify compatibility, classification requirements, and potential needs for further development of modules and applications. The ideal candidate should also have advanced expertise in continuous improvement project definition and implementation, addressing root causes to help mitigate associated risks.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Project Management
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions.
Stakeholder Management
Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflict.
Risk Management
Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience in all aspects of risk management practices and techniques for characterization, monitoring, mitigating, and communicating supply chain & logistic risks; advanced knowledge, skills, and ability related to risk management regarding complex technical issues, such as market place obsolescence.
Communication
Proven ability to conceptualize and communicate program requirements and detailed elements to both technical and non-technical personnel. Demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communications including presentation skills as evidenced by presenting briefings/project status to stakeholders, etc.
Customer Service
Demonstrated ability to manage customer interface with program, line management and executive leadership as well as external interfaces. Exceptional customer service skills and ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations.
Business Software/Systems
Knowledge of business and operations systems and standard software applications (i.e., Microsoft and Adobe products). Advanced knowledge in at least one project management, collaboration, and/or task - tracking software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, SharePoint, Footprints, etc.). Proven ability to manage effectively and independently multiple, complex, and overlapping tasks at once.
Education and Experience:
Position requires a Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution and 6 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level a Ph.D. may be preferred.
Desired Qualifications:
Industrial Engineering and/or Supply Chain Management degree(s)
Project Management Certificate and/or Certified Lean Six Sigma practitioner
Clearance: Active DOE "Q" clearance.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
