Job Summary
The Real Estate Portfolio and Risk Analyst supports both the execution and portfolio management teams in support of MUFG's Japanese corporate clients and their subsidiaries with business operations in the United States. This role is designed for early-career professionals building expertise in commercial banking products and the real estate industry with a focus on the development, management, and delivery of banking products and solutions for Commercial Real Estate (CRE) clients, including owners, developers, investors, and operators. The Analyst partners closely with relationship managers, credit and enterprise risk, derivative, transaction banking, and audit/compliance teams to ensure products meet client needs, regulatory requirements, and internal risk standards.
Major Responsibilities
Portfolio Management (50%)
Support ongoing credit/risk monitoring through the timely completion of periodic loan reviews to identify and communicate to the Credit Division the credit quality of assigned portfolio.
Track financial performance updates and events impacting the assigned portfolio.
Monitor risk and exposure metrics across counterparties and the portfolio.
Process on-going construction loan draw requests in collaboration with both external and internal business partners to ensure conditions precedent have been met for funding.
Execution Management (40%)
Support analysis and approval processes for lending requests.
Produce concise and insightful credit memos, articulating recommendations for credit decisions.
Develop knowledge of legal documentation for markets and banking products.
Participate in team and department-level projects to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
Research market trends, competitive offerings, and client needs within commercial real estate sectors (multifamily, office, industrial, retail and homebuilder sectors).
Assist in preparing product presentations and placemat materials for internal and client-facing use.
Coordinate with internal business partners to drive ancillary revenue including derivatives and transaction banking,
Risk, Compliance & Controls (10%)
Assist in ensuring products comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards prior to launch or modification.
Identify process inefficiencies and contribute to continuous improvement in governance and control frameworks.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field.
1-3 years of relevant experience in commercial banking, real estate banking, product management, credit analysis, or a related financial services role.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work across teams.
The typical base pay range for this role is between $82K - $99K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
