Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work. May occasionally receive instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise. Works under moderate supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.The Administrative Assistant IV performs highly complex (senior level) administrative support or technical program assistance work. Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal administrative support work. May occasionally receive instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and assist others in performing higher-level work. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude use of initiative and independent judgment.Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range is:Administrative Assistant III $35,439 - $52,388. The job class for this position is 0154 and salary group is A13.Administrative Assistant IV $38,976 - $58,045. The job class for this position is 0156 and salary group is A15.Examples of Work PerformedPrepares and disseminates information concerning the Enforcement department programs and services.Assists in maintaining investigative records and case files.Conducts administrative reviews of reports, documents, applications, or summaries to ensure administrative completeness.Assists in preparing, editing, and distributing correspondence, reports, forms, and documents.Assists in compiling data for charts, graphs, databases, summaries, or reports.Assists with general office duties such as ordering supplies, performing basic bookkeeping work, administering travel arrangements, and assisting with general enforcement work.May assist in planning and compiling materials for meetings, conferences, presentations, and seminars.Ensuressecurity and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protectedinformation.Prepares detailed reports on licensee arrests, performs follow-up on related cases, and coordinates the acquisition of court documents.Responds to email and telephone inquiries from the public, departmental staff, and other law enforcement agencies in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines.May assist in the development of administrative or technical assistance policies and procedures.May assist in researching, composing, designing, or editing agency publications.Collects, edits, queries, and analyzes data for charts, graphs, and databases, and prepares summaries for reports.Provide guidance to other staff performing clerical and administrative work.Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity.Performs relatedwork as assigned.
Qualifications: GENERAL QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.Experience in clerical or administrative support work.Experience or education with data analysis or crime data analysis is preferred.Certification with TCIC/NCIC Less Than Full Access and TLETS is preferred.Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.Ability to communicate and interact effectively with members of the public; to respond to public inquiries in a timely manner; to implement administrative procedures; and to interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to obtain TCIC/NCIC Less Than Full Access and TLETS certification.Ability to pass a law enforcement sensitive background investigation.Why work at TCOLE?Working for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) empowers you to make an impact on public safety while engaging in continuous learning within a supportive environment.
