JOB SUMMARY
Marriott Digital Services is seeking a qualified MDS Finance Manager to provide financial management to enable the Marriott Digital Services organization (MDS) to successfully achieve its business objectives. MDS is Marriott's comprehensive in-house digital organization that provides digital platforms, products, and services to hotels across all Marriott around the world. The team functions in an agency-like model within the Global Digital organization and is committed to providing digital activation and support to hotels across various digital channels. This role is responsible for implementing financial best practices to maintain financial health across MDS.
The MDS Finance Manager works closely with the Director, Business Support to implement financial strategies across the $70M organization, to ensure MDS maintains its cost recoverable status. He or she will support the Director to support hotel billing, monthly close activities, improve financial reporting, implement system efficiencies, and enhance budget and forecasting capabilities. The MDS Finance Manager is directly responsible for ensuring timely and accurate monthly billing to thousands of MDS hotel clients. He or she will identify any discrepancies and resolve any billing dispute issues that arise. The Manager will also oversee the vendor invoicing process, serving as a point of escalation, and ensuring timely and accurate payment to dozens of MDS vendors. The Director will look to this individual for support preparing the 20+ annual department budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly variance analyses.
The MDS Finance Manager will utilize Marriott proprietary systems and processes to pull financial reports, conduct analysis, and submit requests. He or she will operate in Salesforce to track hotel enrollments in MDS services, monitor hotel billing charges, and supervise vendor invoice processing. This individual should possess necessary skills to build reports and dashboards, analyze metrics, and effectively communicate findings to non-finance stakeholders. He or she should be highly motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently. The MDS Finance Manager will work cross-functionally with Global Finance Business Partners, answering their questions, providing them with reports, and adhering to their deadlines.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
BS/BA degree from an accredited university with a major in finance, accounting, or a related field
5-7 years of full-time work experience in accounting, financial analysis, financial planning and analysis or related area
Working knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes (i.e., reporting, GL activity, reconciliations, etc.)
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Financial Responsibilities
Submit timely and accurate hotel billing each month for hotels who enroll in MDS programs and products
Work closely with Director, and have responsibility for assisting in the preparation of annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and monthly financial reporting to include insightful variance analysis and drivers
Provides accurate and appropriate materials to meet the monthly close timelines
Perform general ledger accounting and financial support activities
Correctly enter all invoices and vendor set-up requests into Salesforce and Accounts Payable system
Evaluate current and past trends and key performance indicators across the department
Draft financial information to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to Director for decision-making purposes, recommends action
Financial analysis and modeling - pull and consolidate large data sets, build models from scratch and improve existing models
Document key financial
Ensure compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations
Technical Acumen
Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
Working knowledge of financial close and financial reporting procedure
Experience with PeopleSoft finance applications
Data Analysis
Ability to organize, interpret and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
Perform data analysis to support new projects and initiatives
Analyze data to find gaps in systems and identify areas to implement quality assurance measures
Respond to, solve and makes decisions on more complex/non-routine business requests with moderate supervision
Ability to draft findings and recommendations into plain language
Owning Relationships
Maintains positive working relationships with internal partner teams, vendors, internal Client Services' and Operations teams
Provides professional communication when interacting with MDS clients, especially when resolving billing disputes
Conduct forums with key business and financial stakeholders to provide updates on projects related to MDS's financial health
Develop and strengthen relationships with Marriott's Global Finance Business Partners, attending their meetings and providing MDS updates and reports
Strengthen relationships with the Finance Team on Digital Operations, establishing regular communication and enabling knowledge sharing
