Eaton's AER FED Fluid Electrical Distribution division is currently seeking a Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement Manager. This position will be located at our Torrance, CA facility.
The role of the Manufacturing & CI Manager includes providing supervision and technical leadership to the manufacturing engineering and continuous improvement team supporting development and production programs for Aerospace Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and power supply product. The team is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of processes, tooling, and equipment for various military and commercial programs. A successful candidate would be able to lead a team in meeting the day-to-day program and production deliverables, while implementing larger scope initiatives for process improvement, automation, and cost reduction.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $112000 - $164000 a year.

What you'll do:
Own new product launch deliverables through all gates of ProLaunch including production transition. Specifically ensure design for manufacturability and design to cost targets are achieved by active participation in Define for Manufacturability reviews, process flow verification, PFMEA and process error proofing techniques.
Develop and implement processes to improve troubleshooting production issues related to product non-conformance and performance test failures for electronics and electro-mechanical products.
Focus efforts of the manufacturing engineering team on meeting factory productivity cost out objectives. Specifically drive positive standard labor variance and favorable variable manufacturing expense variance using ELSS tools, ERP system maintenance, and design to cost initiatives.
Drive utilization of a problem-solving methodology (DOE, 8-D, A-3, fishbone, etc.) cross-functionally to define true root cause and process prevention based externally and/or internally issued corrective actions. Confirm that process and/or design changes are ISO compliant.
Improve implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and utilization of Six Sigma methodologies to develop and maintain robust manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce variation, eliminate waste, and minimize assembly and test cycle times.
Work collaboratively on a cross-functional team to own manufacturing and continuous improvement items during daily tiered stand-up meetings and execute projects on time in meeting program and production deliverables.
Define and manage capital plan base to support the business growth strategy in addition to current, future and cost savings goals. Interface with vendors to appropriately identify equipment specifications that are aligned with business objectives.
Ensure compliance with Environmental, Safety, and Health (MESH), ISO, and other industry standards. Participate in safety GEMBA walk activities, observation reporting, and MESH element ownership.
Work through the leadership team to lead the development and implementation of the site OpA maturity and ECIS strategy, actions, training and cross-functional activities including CI Tool deployment, training, Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), and Kaizens.
Lead the continuous improvement (Lean and Six Sigma) team. Advise design and manufacturing engineers, operations, and supply chain teams on process capabilities and requirements for new and existing products from inception through shipment to customer.
Work with Regional/Divisional CI leadership team to ensure alignment of plant CI activities to broader functional strategy and vision.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five (5) years engineering or operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
This position requires access to export-controlled information. Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years experience using Lean tools (5S, Standard work, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Setup Reduction (SUR), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Material Flow (LMF) and Six Sigma.
Aerospace experience.
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
Experience in Low volume High mix @type product environment.
Experience with a Make-to-Order (MTO) manufacturing environment.
Experience with automated process and equipment implementation.
Experience with ProLaunch and/or New Product Development.
Experience configuring and maintaining manufacturing parameters in SAP Production environment.
Skills:
Knowledge of surface-mount technology (SMT), PCBA assembly process.
Excellent communication skills
Proven capability to lead change in a team environment.
Strong analytical skills
Proficient in Power Point, Visio, Minitab ( or any Statistical software)
Ability to manage multiple projects/activities cross-functionally and be able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
Experienced Lean and 6 Sigma trainer and mentor
Understanding of SIOP process and how shop capacity planning relates to equipment, processes, and manning strategy.
