Summary This position is located at the Edward Hines Jr VA Hospital, Hines, IL and is organizationally aligned under the Environmental Management Service (EMS), Grounds Section. Responsibilities The purpose of the position is to perform as a Laborer requiring moderately heavy physical effort. The work requires the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. The major duties of this position include and are not limited to: Lifting and moving moderately heavy objects such as furniture and equipment by hand, hand truck or dolly. Maintaining grounds using manual equipment to fill holes, rake leaves, or dig ditches. Using simple powered equipment such push lawn mowers, edgers, trimmers, snowblowers, etc., to maintain grounds. Collecting and emptying garbage cans. Shoveling snow. Performing other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Multiple shifts, however, given the nature of assignment, the position requires reporting for duty (when necessary) after hours including weekends and on holidays. The equipment used frequently involves special care to prevent injuries.
