This position works within the Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) as a part of one of the most highly regarded park systems in the country. With more than 25,000 acres of parkland, nine Rec Centers, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, FCPA is an exciting organization to be a part of and there are many opportunities for staff to make a difference at every level.
As part of the Resource Management and Interpretation Division, this position provides advanced level administration for the division director and division staff. Responsible for the oversight of the division budget, business, and community engagement program operations. Facilitates development of division strategy documents including operating plans, workforce planning, and assets management. Provides effective leadership, support and promotion of agency's strategic and equity plans, division's annual plan, and other division priorities. This position is part of internal project work teams and is vital to the division's management team, serving alongside the site operation branch managers and interpretation and engagement branch managers. Collaborates with the other RMID branches and colleagues to support volunteer and interpretive programming services, and natural and cultural resource protection and management. The position works closely with the agency's Business Administration and Park Operation Divisions and serves as RMID's main contact and subject matter expert for the division's budget and lines of business and asset management. Spearheads the development of business processes and standard operating procedures. Supervises, trains, coaches, and evaluates professional staff. Tracks branch metrics and assess overall performance, annually.
The ideal candidate will possess s trong oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and work within cross-functional teams. Excellent organization and project management skills. Demonstrated business acumen.

Independently designs, develops, and coordinates ongoing department programs and special projects;
Performs a wide range of professional-level management work for more than one broad administrative function including complex analysis and diverse project management in a lead capacity;
Coordinates and manages the work of administrative, para-professional, and/or professional-level staff in the day-to-day activities of selected projects. Plans, organizes, and coordinates changes to the policies, procedures, or processes related to multiple administrative functions (financial, procurement, budget, human resources, contract or grants administration, information technology systems, etc.);
Plans and conducts or oversees studies or research activities to ensure program quality, determine unmet needs or ensure efficacy of existing programs;
Provides guidance, recommendations, and advice to departmental managers;
Serves on committees, task forces, and management teams to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing management/administrative systems;
Writes, edits, and finalizes reports and presentations and presents findings and recommendations to department senior managers.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; Plus, four years of professional work experience within the functional area.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's License (Required)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three or more years of experience in supervising and managing staff, creating strategic plans, and budget development.
Experience in the following areas: management of professional meetings, communication, general administration, editing, use of information systems and software applications, and report creation.
Experience developing and managing revenue-generating programs/services.
Experience using FOCUS, RecDynamics, and Microsoft Office suite.
Certified Park and Recreational Professional (CPRP).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. Work is generally sedentary but may require extended periods of standing. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
