Job Summary and Qualifications
Performs routine and/or complex testing in specific areas of the lab according to department policies.
Know policies, procedures and practices necessary to perform specimen processing duties.
Responds to requests for emergency service in a timely manner.
Organizes workload within the department to meet the needs of the institution within established timeframes.
Answers all incoming phone calls and requests for information in a timely manner.
Reports any incomplete assignments/workload to incoming shift in order to ensure continuity of result reporting.
Demonstrates the ability to differentiate results of various tests to determine the accuracy of test result and reports any unusual findings/trends to supervisor.
Maintains clean workstation.
Demonstrates initial and annual competency in all areas including specimen processing and all computer related functions.
Performs and documents various quality control and equipment maintenance procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
Reviews all department QC, QA, equipment records and documents according to department policies.
Maintains department quality control records, equipment records, procedure manuals to meet regulatory guidelines (CAP, JCAHO, State of NH).
Maintains quality standards for all aspects necessary for excellent patient care including reagents, equipment, maintenance and troubleshooting, personnel, procedures, supply inventory and productive workflow and all required documentation including procedure manuals.
Participates in the Quality Improvement by collecting data and making suggestions for improvement.
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of the program. Works with the Laboratory Director to ensure compliance with procedures throughout the facility
Oversees routine procedures as needed to assure that patient results are reported accurately and are processed in a timely manner.
Develops effective working relationships with non-laboratory personnel in order to promote a comprehensive program.
Assures that new staff is oriented to department and competencies documented.
Assists lab management in any department specific changes, upgrades or projects in a timely manner.
Adheres to hospital policy for reporting patient safety issues, including errors. Consistently "Puts Patient safety First" when performing job duties or providing care.
Strive to develop a team environment with all disciplines working at the site. Per the direction of the FSER
Management perform other duties as assigned to ensure effective patient and operational flow of the FSER.
Duties could include but not limited to greeting patients, assisting with EVS duties etc.
