About Rockville Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Rockville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Rockville Correctional Facility is an intake and medium security facility for adult females. Rockville Correctional Facility is located in Rockville, Indiana. The Department of Correction developed the facility from an Air Force base into a juvenile male facility, to co-ed, and now to adult females alone, making it the largest female facility. The Rockville Correctional Facility serves as the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, which involves a series of assessments to ensure each incarcerated individual is assigned to the facility and programming that best meets their needs. Incarcerated individuals have multiple educational and vocational training opportunities, including cosmetology, parenting support and a partnership with Televerde that includes training and work opportunities inside the facility and post release.
Role Overview:
As the Correctional Classification Specialist at the Rockville Correctional Facility , you will be responsible for the coordination of the classification functions. In this position, you will help with incarcerated individuals admission/orientation, intake/release, monitoring the reentry/classification boards, and management of all records/documents for incarcerated individual packets. You will also ensure that all incarcerated individuals with a medical/program classification are identified and appropriately assigned.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Review recently received offender packets and recommend initial classification level.
Conduct initial intake classification review, provide information to the immediate supervisor and recommend their initial assignments.
Review the classification designations at the facility level to assign or recommend the final security and custody levels to the immediate supervisor or central office analyst.
Finalize Classification Hearing Results of offender job changes, program changes and facility transfer recommendations.
Serve as designee in the classification department in the absence of the Classification Supervisor.
Serve as designee to facilitate supervision of offender release duties, court order preparation, and Interstate Compact issues as needed.

What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency (HSE).
Three (3) years full-time experience in corrections, criminology, parole or probation work or related areas.
Substitutions: Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience with a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
Basic knowledge of the correctional release process, including sentencing and credit time statutes and sentencing alternatives.
Extensive knowledge of Indiana Department of Correction facilities and the programs available and security requirements and criteria.
Ability to learn Offender Management System and related software programs.
Ability to complete related training offered by Correctional Training Institute.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
You must satisfy the following requirements to continue employment:
Complete the Certification of Credit Time Calculations and Annual Inservice Training.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
