Summary The primary role of the Whole Health System (WHS) Clinical Director located at the South Texas VA Health Care System (STVHCS) is to plan and implement services delivered and contribute to the process of strategic planning, influencing and responding to organizational priorities. The Whole Health System Clinical Director is responsible for creating a Whole Health System (WHS) with development of priorities and working with the Executive Team and appropriate Service Chiefs, ACOSs, Program Managers, Organizational Health Board, and Whole Health Stakeholder Committee. The roles and responsibilities of the Whole Health System Clinical Director include, but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership to the Whole Health System. Plans and directs the educational and clinical experience of any potential medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to the Whole Health System. Develops and executes a Whole Health Business Plan for the STVHCS. The plan should identify the STVHCS mission, goals, objectives and strategies or accomplishments together with related resource implications. The business plan should also take cognizance of and be consistent with STVHCS's overall strategic business direction. Assumes a leadership role in the development and implementation of STVHSC Whole Health cultural transformation plan. Develops the WHS annual budgetary report based on quality, activity and financial information and projections. Is accountable for resources used, directly and indirectly, by the WHS. Occupies the lead management role within the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service; each member of the staff has a reporting relationship through their line supervisor to the Chief. Develops and implements measures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the designated areas of responsibility. Creates strategic partnerships with VHA facility program directors and service line chiefs. Advocate for the Whole Health System with VHA leadership, the medical community and academic affiliates. Creates strategic partnerships with community organizations to promote health and well-being offerings within the community as needed. Assists with the development of a WHS marketing plan. Jointly selects Whole Health System team members and provides direct line supervision to the Program Managers and Whole Health Nurse Practitioner. Provides strategic clinical input and ensures effective advice to the Chief of Staff and STVHCS Executive Team. Assists clinicians with educational and clinical experience of any potential medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to the WHS. Is readily available to the team members for collaboration when medical or other problems arise. Participates in Whole Health System team meetings. Keeps the Whole Health System team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards. Collaborates with other Whole Health System Directors, VISN 17 leadership, and VA Central Office (OPCC & CT) staff on program development issues. Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Podiatrist Basic Requirements Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Approved schools are United States schools of podiatric medicine approved by the Council on Podiatry Education of the American Podiatry Association in the year in which the degree was granted. ~AND~ Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Council on Podiatric Medical Education, in the list published for the year the residency was completed, or (2) Other residencies and training experiences, or their equivalents, which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. ~AND~ License: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: 3 years of experience working with patients with chronic pain using a stepped care biopsychosocial approach model.
