Role Summary
The Director, Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Operations sets the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of all sourcing, contracting, and asset management activities for the Supply Chain Operational divisions for Alaska Airlines. As a people leader, this role ensures the assignment of appropriate supply chain personnel to manage sourcing, vendor selection, negotiations, pricing, contract terms, warranties, and vendor management. This role leads a team and develops a supply chain strategy specific to each negotiation.
Key Duties
Leads a team of Sourcing professionals while providing project oversight of all major contracting activities for Operational divisions to ensure assignment of appropriate supply chain personnel to manage sourcing, vendor selection, negotiations, pricing, contract terms, warranties, and vendor management.
Establishes and monitors processes to ensure contract lifecycle management, supplier capacity management, demand planning, and product life-cycle management resulting in cost control and asset management.
Leverages technical competencies and knowledge to partner with Maintenance & Engineering, Inflight and Flight Operations to purchase/contract airline specific equipment such as Aircraft material and components, MRO capacity, TechOps technology tools, flight simulators, and navigation equipment.
Leads team members in the development of negotiation and vendor management plans specific to each negotiation, ideally with a unique end-state to provide Alaska Airlines with a vendor-specific competitive advantage that achieves reduced unit cost or economies of scale, while cultivating long-term harmonious vendor relationships.
Provides hands-on project leadership, including assistance with business analysis, capacity planning, training, and understanding of organizational dynamics to ensure supply chain results directly support business strategy.
Develop a multi-year contract strategy and plan for each of the assigned divisions.
In cooperation with the business stakeholders, ability to document and establish vendor management framework to ensure alignment with contractual agreements, SLA's and all other performance criteria.
Manages vendor escalations, contractual clarifications and commercial disputes as required, to support the business.
Ensures contracting policies and procedures are effectively implemented within assigned areas and enforces compliance with those processes.
Identifies sourcing project benefits to clearly measure, articulate, and track results.
Fosters a culture of engagement, holds self and others accountable through trust and authentic relationships.
Promotes a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct and indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and by providing regular and meaningful feedback. Identifies and provides career development opportunities through developmental assignments and formal and informal training.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
8 years of experience in Sourcing, Contract management, project management, or relevant area.
5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.
A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree, with a focus in a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Working knowledge of Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) and Integrated Parts List (IPL) contractual structures and industry related contracting standards.
Demonstrated use of a strategic sourcing process including Request for Proposal (RFP) writing and management.
Working knowledge of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business framework, contractual structures and industry-related contracting standards.
Working knowledge of FAA certification criteria to purchase/contract airline specific equipment such as cabin interior furnishings, spare parts, engines, flight simulators, and navigation equipment, etc.
Experience in negotiating high value contracts.
Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship building skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience with aircraft or aerospace materials sourcing programs.
Process improvement or Lean experience.
Strategic sourcing process knowledge.
Strong familiarity and comfort with financial terms, analysis, and metrics.
A Master of Arts/Science degree or a Master of Business Administration degree.

Salary Range
$167,050 - $258,950 / year
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
