Job Title: Filler Operator
Location: East Syracuse, NY
Rate of Pay: $24.50
Job Type: Full-Time | 12-hour Shifts | Day 6am-6:30pm *Shifts operate on a two-week rotation.
General Description:**
The Filler Operator plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality products. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, cleaning, and troubleshooting filling equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
The Filler Operator supports production goals by maintaining equipment performance, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate assigned filling equipment, including setup, pre-start, startup, operation, shutdown, and cleaning per established SOPs.
Achieve production, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in accordance with established procedures.
Notify maintenance or supervisors of mechanical malfunctions and assist with problem resolution.
Perform Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) processes, including monitoring chemical inputs, temperature, and time controls.
Maintain production schedules, meet order expectations, and support waste reduction initiatives.
Clear jam-ups and restore production line operations promptly.
Ensure compliance with GMPs, SOPs, and all plant policies and regulations.
Conduct ongoing product quality control checks.
Support other areas of production as assigned and cross-train in multiple operational areas.
Assist in training new operators and serve as backup during absences.
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in all work areas.
Communicate effectively between shifts and across departments.
Follow all food safety, SQF, and workplace safety requirements, reporting issues promptly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic to advanced mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, weights, and measures).
Ability to understand and respond appropriately to employee, vendor, and customer inquiries.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English (bilingual skills are a plus).
Familiarity with company mission, goals, and production processes.
Competence in operating facility equipment and completing required training programs.
Ability to interpret company documentation and product coding systems.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required
Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience a MUST!
Work Schedule:
Availability for morning, afternoon, &/or overnight shifts any day of the week.
Typical schedule: 36-48 hours per week (12-hour shifts); additional hours as business needs require.

Environmental Conditions:
Work performed primarily indoors, with exposure to hot, cold, wet, and humid conditions.
Potential exposure to food ingredients (including allergens) and cleaning chemicals used in food processing.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including production and warehouse spaces.
Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, and balance for the duration of the shift.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently (and more with assistance).
