Physical Therapist (Senior Instructor) - 38978 Faculty
The MIBH currently seeks an energetic junior full-time Physical Therapist who is eager to advance their evaluation and treatment therapy skills to provide cutting-edge care for the MIBH patients with persistent post-concussive symptoms as a result of military service and elite athletic participation, with a primary focus on high-level physical performance, visual-vestibular integration conditioning and related cervicogenic therapies.
Interface effectively with all involved clinical departments, including complimentary/alternative health care, Anschutz Health and Wellness Center, community services, and outside referrals where appropriate
Establish a customized plan of care that is appropriate to address problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities, desires, goals and resources
Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting with recommendations for services to implement upon return to the home community
Engage in research related to diagnosis, intervention strategies and outcome measures used to provide the best evidence-based care to those recovering from TBI/concussion injuries
Participate and contribute to the MIBH committees involved in developing material and programs within the Marcus Institute (i.e. Pain 101, Family Programming)
Receive ongoing mentoring from the MIBH clinicians

The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is a clinical care and research institute for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Physiological conditions, and Behavioral Health (BH) conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. The primary focus of the MIBH is to care for former military personnel who have separated from active duty, with special consideration for those who were separated with "Other Than Honorable" or "Dishonorable" discharge status due to TBI or BH conditions. The MIBH also serves civilian adults who have sustained mild to moderate TBI and are experiencing ongoing neurological problems and cognitive, physical, and behavioral conditions. The MIBH provides interdisciplinary care for adults experiencing persistent effects of TBI. This includes comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and an Intensive Outpatient Program that integrates conventional medicine with complementary and alternative treatment modalities.We have AMAZING benefits and offerexceptional amounts of holiday, vacation and sick leave! 2 years direct experience with traumatic brain injury assessment and intervention
1 year Sports medicine, exercise physiology and/or human physical performance assessment and training experience
Currently licensed with Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies to practice Physical Therapy or ability to obtain licensureApplicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. Preferred Qualifications:
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree
3-4 years of directly relevant experience including background in neurologic rehabilitation and/or vestibular rehabilitation, specifically related to concussive injuries
Experience treating TBI on an interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary team
Experience working with active duty service members or military Veterans and/or elite level athletes
Experience with electronic medical record-based documentation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Collegiate or higher level athletic competition
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
Ability to maintain a positive and cooperative attitude
Ability to organize and prioritize with minimal direction and maintain a well-organized work environment
Ability to problem-solve, use good judgement, and deal with varied and difficult personalities
Ability to search and critically review best evidence to guide clinical decision making and effectively share knowledge with colleagues as well as communicate relevant findings in appropriate language to the general public
Ability to set objectives, establish priorities and follow initiatives
Ability to work in continually changing conditions
Ability to work under moderate to high levels of stress
Current knowledge of or willingness to learn about military culture
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills including the ability to work with a variety of applications
