What you will do:
This is a professional accounting position responsible for gathering all financial information on all Individuals admitted to Northeast Florida State Hospital. Performing accounting duties which involve the application of professional accounting techniques such as assessing, billing and collecting cost of care fees. Extensive knowledge of Florida Statutes, Department of Children and Families rules and regulations and Social Security Administration rules and regulation is necessary to perform these duties.
How you will make an impact :
Maintains and reconciles ledger of all admission and report to Social Security, V.A., etc.
Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and maintaining financial information on all Individuals admitted to Northeast Florida State Hospital.
Serve as liaison to Social Security, Veterans Administration, Individual's family/representative and social service departments.
Search and obtain Individual's health insurance coverage including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurances.
Assess the individuals cost of care according to CFOP 55-7, SSA, VA, etc. rules and regulations.
Maintain resident database and provide financial summary to Individual's medical record.
Creates fee collection accounts and prepares billings and payment transactions.
Prepares client trust fund requisitions requesting payment of resident bills monthly.
Maintains and reconciles ledger of all discharges and report to Social Security, V.A., etc.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
Ability to work independently.
Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
Create and update Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and charts.
Complete data reports.
Working experience in Medicare, Medicaid and/or Insurance claim processing.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
Ability to use automated accounting systems, personal computers, and general office equipment.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications
One year experience in Medicare, Medicaid and/or Insurance claim processing
One year experience in any State of Florida Revenue Collections area uses Fee Maintenance System, FLAIR and Medicaid Web site for posting billings/payments for cost of care.
Required Qualifications
One year experience in accounting
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
