Summary This position is located within the Engineering Service at the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System in Fayetteville, NC. System. This position manages the operation and specialized administration of the Fleet Unit. Responsibilities THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Report all vehicle accidents to VA police or local police within 4 working hours of the incident. Investigate all accidents. Submit a report of findings to the Safety Office for all accidents involving injuries. Acquire license plates for VA-owned vehicles for initial use and as plates near their expiration date. Train drivers on inspecting vehicles. Make a report on any vehicle-related incidents in the potential vehicle driver's history. Ensure compliance with the vehicle maintenance schedule and maintain records of cost associated with each required task, for each vehicle in their fleet. Plan the use of workers, vehicles and tools on a daily, weekly, monthly and project-by-project basis as necessary to ensure highest possible efficiency of performance. Establish and plan work priorities and deadlines relying on traditional schedules and methods and creating new schedules and methods when necessary to achieve applicable goals. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-09 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-08) that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? Qualifying examples of specialized experience includes: supervising and managing the transportation program; establishing and planning work priorities and deadlines; reporting and investigating all vehicle related incidents; providing technical and administrative supervision to transportation assistants; and managing the expenditures and obligations and analysis of the transportation budget.
