Primary Purpose: Provides effective counseling services to outpatient clients in accordance with OASAS and Agency rules and regulations. Conducts screenings and assessments of clients. Collaborates with others in treatment planning, service coordination and clinical evaluation. Reviews all clinic documentation and case records according to agency policy and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: Provides clinical counseling services to clients in recovery utilizing treatment knowledge, understanding of addiction, and application of addiction counselor knowledge to practical treatment of clients. Promotes the TCRSs services and obtains referrals. Conducts screenings, assessments. Motivates clients to do their best. Adheres to all directives and policies of the TCRS at all times. Writes effective treatment plans. Provides individual and group counseling as scheduled. Maintains a caseload of up to 35 clients. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in case records according to agency policy and regulatory requirements. Assists in providing a safe and respectful environment for treatment. Attends and participates in all assigned meetings, trainings, case conference and committees. Makes and completes all referrals to appropriate services. Continues to seek and develop professional growth and activities. Maintains a professional relationship with the community, peers and other providers. Other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by the Program Director. Knowledge Required: Knowledge of assessment techniques and quality service standards. Knowledge of information and techniques needed to rehabilitate physical and mental ailments and to provide guidance to clients and staff. TCRS employs an EMR system and knowledge of PC based systems to include MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office Programs. Language Requirements: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Education Requirements: Associate Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or other related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted for a degree. At least four (4) years work experience in an OASAS licensed facility. License Requirements: CASAC-T/P, CASAC or other Q.H.P. Experience Requirements: A minimum of three (3) years experience as a counselor in a preferably in an OASAS licensed outpatient chemical dependency treatment program. Skill Requirements: Writing communicating effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience. Active listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate. Guidance influencing and directing clients with service needs to TCRS. Relationship building cultivates and maintains centers of influence for referrals. Abilities: Oral Expression - to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Oral Comprehension - to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Written comprehension - to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. Speech clarity - to speak clearly so that it is understandable to the listener. Wrist-Finger Speed - to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, wrists. Reasoning - to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
