Job Description:
Position Overview:
The EAIS Axway Managed File Transfer (MFT) Technical Support & Operations Engineer role is critical in ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient daily data transfers (SFTP and HTTPS) across the hybrid EAIS Axway environment (on-premises and AWS cloud). The ideal candidate will drive system reliability, respond to incidents, support escalations, and maintain operational excellence while aligning to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This includes responsibility for Axway system operations, customization, architecture, patching, and cross-team collaboration to meet business and security objectives. In addition, the candidate will take on a leadership role in managing small technical teams to address customer concerns, with a specific focus on ensuring the success of projects. This includes providing oversight, coordination, and direction to team members while fostering collaboration and delivering results in a high-pressure environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
System Operations & Incident Management:
Proactively monitor daily data transfers (~1TB/day) to detect and resolve anomalies and meet SLA targets (incident acknowledgment within 10-15 minutes; MTTR varied by severity).
Troubleshoot Axway platform issues (SFTP/HTTPS failures, permissions, cipher mismatches, configurations) and network-level failures.
Respond to on-call incidents and planned maintenance during established maintenance windows.
Ensure timely reporting of operational metrics, trend analysis, and improvement actions to stakeholders.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management:
Manage both on-premises (Linux/Windows systems, storage, and virtualization) and AWS infrastructure services, such as EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch.
Optimize system performance, availability, and security through effective maintenance and resource tuning.
Collaborate on migration/transition tasks within hybrid and cloud-focused environments.
Administration & Customization:
Perform Axway SecureTransport software patching, user/partner onboarding, route/policy management, MFA/certificate/key rotation, and other configurations.
Develop and implement customer-specific workflows, transfer policies, and access credentials.
Test system customizations in pre-production environments and deploy changes consistently via change management processes.
Architecture, Documentation, & Vendor Coordination:
Design and present architecture solutions (logical and physical diagrams) for secure data workflows in public, private, and hybrid environments.
Develop robust runbooks, SOPs, escalation guides, and onboarding templates.
Act as a point of contact for Axway escalation tickets and liaise between internal teams (security, networking, database, etc.) and external vendors.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure FedRAMP and Zero Trust-aligned security measures, including encryption (TLS/mTLS, KMS-integrated), IAM least privilege adherence, and proactive incident reporting to audit teams.
Coordinate file and endpoint-level security validations, vulnerability remediation, and health checks with respective teams.
Customer Engagement & Communication:
Provide clear, plain-English status updates to non-technical stakeholders during operational updates.
Engage collaboratively with partners to complete credential exchanges and test secure endpoints (SFTP/HTTPS/mTLS).
Key Requirements:
Required Technical Skills & Experience:
Axway SecureTransport Expertise:
Hands-on experience managing Axway SecureTransport operations-including user, partner, key management, routes, policies, and troubleshooting.
Linux System Administration:
Proficiency in Rocky Linux or equivalent systems, covering systemd, journald, OpenSSL, SSH, firewalls (iptables/nftables), and storage troubleshooting.
AWS Services Knowledge:
Strong operational experience with AWS EC2, S3, EFS, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC design, and networking components (SGs, NACLs, endpoints).
Secure Data Transfers:
Protocol expertise in SFTP, HTTPS, TLS (cipher suites, certs), SSH hardening, file hashing, and resumable download workflows.
Incident Response & SLA Reporting:
Demonstrated experience responding to, remediating, and documenting incidents in high-volume production environments.
Scripting & Automation:
Ability to automate operational tasks using Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
Preferred Experience:
Advanced AWS knowledge: PrivateLink, CloudFront, WAF, and Aurora MySQL/PostgreSQL.
FedRAMP/Zero Trust alignment experience within MFT or hybrid systems.
Familiarity with Splunk/SIEM logging, ICAP/AV workflows, and security monitoring tools.
Soft Skills & Attributes:
Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting.
Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-team coordination.
Highly reliable and proactive problem-solving abilities under pressure.
Willingness to participate in continuous learning and skill refreshment for tools and frameworks.
Certifications (Preferred):
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or SysOps Administrator Certification.
Axway SecureTransport Administrator Certification.
Security+ or equivalent certifications focused on FedRAMP and Zero Trust environments.
Applicants Should Have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in MFT and Axway product implementations in hybrid cloud environments.
Prior exposure to enterprise projects emphasizing SLA-driven operational performance.
Employment Type:
