This position will be part of the Enterprise Services team, which delivers a full suite of services to state agencies, boards, councils, and commissions, and many central services to local government partners.
As the Senior Network Designer with Minnesota IT Services' Enterprise Services team, you will provide network design, automation, and management for the MNIT Wide Area Network / Local Area Network / Wireless Local Area Network (WAN/LAN/WLAN) service delivery, used to support MNIT and customer infrastructures connecting to MNet wide area network (WAN) services. You will provide senior network design on MNIT WAN/LAN/WLAN infrastructure, documentation, technical coordination on installation, and testing of WAN/LAN/WLAN services, in the planning, organization, and implementation of statewide technology projects. In addition, you will also work with cross-agency technical teams to examine the potential of emerging technologies utilizing IP converged network protocols that serve Voice, Video, and data IP applications. This position requires an employee to be onsite at 600 N. Robert St, St. Paul , Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of five (5) years of IT related experience in performing wide area networking design, automation, and management.
Experience must include:
Cisco WAN/LAN/WLAN infrastructure and operating systems.
Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, IP addressing standards, and DNS configuration.
Design, implement, and troubleshoot router/switch networks.
Network management tools, such as Cisco Prime or other SNMP systems.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications
Skilled in network performance monitoring and use of diagnostic tools like protocol analyzers.
Demonstrated leadership in mentoring or managing technical staff or project teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Familiarity with scripting or automation, such as Perl or similar tools.
