Inthis role you will work remotely from a home office.
We are seeking a
motivated, talented, and self-driven Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Research
Intern focused on Industrial Cybersecurity to join our research team. An ideal
candidate will have a strong background in programming and configuring basic
industrial devices such as PLCs and HMIs. The intern will work closely with
experienced researchers and engineers to support cutting-edge projects aimed at
demonstrating impact with respect to misconfigurations in ICS networks and
necessary controls associated with preventing ICS attacks.
KeyResponsibilities:
ICS Testbed and Cyber Scenario Creationand Configuration:
Assist in configuration and programming of industrial devices toreplicate a near realistic industrial process
Investigate and create cybersecurity attackswithin the configured testbed to assist with training of variouscybersecurity models
Development of Training and Testing Environments :
Assist with the creation of automated controls (both attack anddefense) as part of a training environment for cybersecurity models
Assist with the development of model training and testingenvironments
Accommodate integration of said environments into a broaderplatform
Collaboration and Reporting:
Workalongside a multidisciplinary team of researchers to brainstorm anddevelop innovative solutions
Prepare and present progress reports,technical documentation, and research papers to internal and externalstakeholders
Publication of Results :
Publish the results generated from theresearch and experiments as part of a Conference and/or Journal.
RequiredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience :
Currentlyenrolled full-time in a PhD or MSc program in cybersecurity, computer science,engineering, artificial intelligence, or other from an accredited university inthe United States
Experiencewith industrial control systems such as PLCs, HMIs, and engineering software.
Basicexperience writing Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram (FBD), StructuredControl Language (SCL), Sequential Function Charts (SFC), Structured text, etc.is highly desirable.
Workingknowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Jira, and other professional softwaredevelopment tools and workflows.
Experiencewith vulnerability analysis, software security, or AI applications incybersecurity is highly desirable.
Proficiencyin English (spoken and written).
Preferred Qualifications:
Abilityto think critically, solve problems, and work independently.
Strongprogramming and fast prototyping skills.
Strongunderstanding of industrial control systems.
Successfulcandidates must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance withUS Export Control Law. US Export Control laws and applicable regulations governthe distribution of strategically important technology, services andinformation to foreign nationals and foreign countries. Siemens may require candidates under
