As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we are looking for an Environmental Health and Safety Intern to join our team in Northbrook, IL.

Develops job safety analyses (JSA) and safety moments.

Assists in conducting incident investigations, determining root cause and developing Lessons Learned documents.

Assists with the review and development of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) assessments for laboratories.

Assists in creating programs and instructing employees in matters pertaining to occupational health, prevention of accidents, safe operation of equipment and proper handling/cleanup of chemicals and hazardous materials.

Assists in conducting inspections and reporting on tests and investigations to obtain data for use in determining sources of pollution and methods for controlling pollutants in air, soil and water.

Assist with EHS training implementation and documentation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

This position requires periodic travel by car and/or airline (or other public transportation) to other UL Solutions sites as assigned and perform in-person audits/ inspections/ investigations in a wide variety of laboratory and office environments. Flexibility to work non-traditional business hours as needed. Travel required: up to?10-15%.

Frequent use of computers and office equipment is required.

Ability to stand and walk extensively (concrete floors) for up to 2 hour periods, several times a day is required.

Ability to move safely over uneven terrain; ascend/descend stairs/ladders/scaffolding required.

Ability to lift up to 30lbs assisted or unassisted, pushing; pulling; bending; reaching; handling; stooping; working in tight spaces and working in hot/cold environments will occasionally be required in lab, office and outside environments.

Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond quickly.

Ability to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment when required, while performing select duties.

Rising senior currently pursuing an undergraduate or master's degree in: Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene?or relevant field

Ability to communicate and present effectively.

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, collaborative work environment.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Accept feedback and coaching from senior teammates.

Must have the indefinite right to work in the United States.

What we offer:

Total Rewards:?The hourly rate for this role is $25.00. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to terms and conditions. Your internship will consist of a 10-12 week long project, networking, learning & development opportunities, and will provide you with the opportunity to make a real-world impact.
