JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, coordinates the assignment, maintenance and replacement of vehicles in a fleet program. Maintains inventory and orders supplies. The District Motorpool Supervisor will be responsible for managing the District Motorpool Fleet, managing District Vehicle Assignments, managing District Surplus Equipment, assigning Daily Activities for the Motorpool Administrative Assistant, Maintenance Equipment Operators, etc.
JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Under general supervision monitors vehicle routine maintenance actions to department standards through periodic inspections of vehicles, equipment, and work sites. Supervises the receiving and dispersal of new equipment, the removal of surplus equipment, and the transfer of vehicles and equipment within the District. Directs the operation of the District Motor Pool; supervises transporting of heavy equipment throughout District ; maintains an inventory of bridge materials, scrap metals and barriers at the district wide storage facility; and supervises the operation of the District vehicle fueling facility. Maintains vehicle loan records and reports activity to Maintenance Shop Manager. Evaluates personnel at scheduled intervals, discusses personnel actions such as promotions, progressive discipline, and discharge with supervisor for action.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications.
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in area of assignment.
AGENCY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience inspecting motorized vehicles and equipment and conducting preventive maintenance.
· Previous lead worker or supervisor experience
· Possesses basic competencies to read and understand technical manuals.
· Demonstrated ability to perform basic arithmetic; to write work orders, maintenance schedules and business correspondence.
· Demonstrated ability to assign and evaluate the work of motor pool and support staff.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully work with and communicate with other departmental staff who interact with the motor pool operation.
· Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and guidance to employees in carrying out motor vehicle and highway equipment operation and maintenance techniques.
· Demonstrated ability to bend, lift, climb, and maneuver ones position while demonstrating preventative maintenance activities.
· Demonstrated experience in using selected rules, principles, relationships, and existing information to determine the best solution to problems.
· Demonstrated ability to properly manage resources needed for the position.
· Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive view of oneself and the Department.
· Possess the physical strength, agility and eye-hand coordination necessary to perform the core responsibilities of the job.
· Demonstrated ability to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills applicable to the job.

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Possesses one or more years of experience supervising a motorized vehicle and highway equipment inspection and preventative maintenance operation.
· Experience in the use of computers and/or automotive diagnostic machines.
· Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
· Possesses knowledge of computer generated reports.
· Demonstrated ability to train employees in their job responsibilities; to analyze and interpret situations in order to generate and evaluate alternatives and recommend a solution.
· Demonstrated ability to work with people from different backgrounds and varied situations.
· Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and record data relating to preventative maintenance.
· Demonstrated ability to find innovative ways to solve problems relating to motor vehicle operations.

In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employee's favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
